WELP metro boomin went on a twitter rant about how rappers are dropping constant mixtapes to try and be like future and young thug took it personally, so this thread is now a bit more relevant

yeah it's kind of a specious argument to begin with. metro boomin was all "I KNOW about wayne and gucci you guys, but this is different" but it still didn't really come off well. even before YT said anything, my reaction was 'either he's talking about ATL no-names i haven't heard of, or he's talking about young thug, which is weird because they work together.'

one is more straightlaced, one more eccentric, one more regular-dude, the other dresses very colorfully and is generally considered the better rapper although it's easy to underrate the other, both from atlanta, i mean it's not a reach exactly

are they? i think Metro Thuggin was just anticipated because "The Blanguage" was awesome and there was a year where that was the big Young Thug project perpetually on the horizon, and it's a bummer that these 2 guys that at one point were making an album together had some kind of falling out. Metro and Future seems like a more fertile combination overall but there's really no reason these guys can't all work together.

So are we buying this 12 hours later "I wasn't talking about Thug, that would be corny" talk or not?

No but the former argument was contained within the latter and further expounded upon in this thread ... The point was future stans aren't any more open minded just bc future is better than jcole

I just don't know which Future album to vote for in EOY. I haven't really been treating them as separate releases at all, just listening to them all in one playlist.

haven't voted yet but i find it fairly easy to go w/ ds2 even if i also listen to them together or jump back and forth between them

yeah i def rated DS2 highest, the other ones kinda feel like EPs to me

w/ thug barter 6 is an easy pick imo, i find ss1 less and less appealing as the year wrapped up, the shitty mastering and many dud tracks kind of ruins it for me even if there are some standouts. ss2 is wonderful though and i need to spend more time w/ it

I can compile an all-killer album from the three Future releases but none of them seem perfect. Guess I'll plump for DS2 although Beast Mode stands out as it has my favourite track on it.

i understand how opinions work but the idea that anyone thinks DS2 (or Beast Mode or Monster) is better than 56 Nights kinda boggles my mind. all of them of plenty of great moments, but as an album, 56N is a good bit better than the rest imo.

to each his/her own, of course. i just don't get it.
