feel like a year or two ago this would have been nearly twice that on a thursday night in late fall

i said something a while back about the decline in use of the wdyll threads being a good indicator of the drift from ilx to social media and just noticed there is no november thread. boyz ii men getting ready to sing

some people are on zing instead of the site, I'm not sure if those stats are counted?

Plenty of ilx on twitter iirc

imo ilx still feels more like one of the better methods for the same ~150 people to keep talking to each other but that's kinda all it is at this point. we are definitely in metafilter land now, there has been basically no new blood for years, the 'young people' here are all in their late 20s and the 45 y/os are just busier w/ lyfe / kids / painting their garage.

lot of ppl seem p convinced this is happening but idk

i think those perspectives mainly focus on the business end of twitter. i personally don't see it dying soon but it really shifted in 2012-2013 from a kind of cool and fascinating thing where ppl were really funny and i felt less alone (lol) to a site of unbelievable anxiety, which has gotten way worse in the past two years, even as i followed as few ppl as possible

i mean, my own fault for being embedded in both media and music twitter

I realized Something Was Up with Twitter when the committee for my college reunion started collecting everyone's Twitter handles to put on a list and mine was the only one not geared towards promoting my brand/professional work. At first I was embarrassed but it quickly became hilarious as I watched white paper link after appointment announcement after newspaper article scroll by punctuated with me joking with ilxors about some terrible band/politician
