trying to find something --

a sort of hammurabi mechanic game (you know, allot limited resources each turn to manage things, hope everyone doesn't die) but it was a crashlanded spaceship, you were the captain, you had to survive a certain amount of time

it was largely impossible, generally someone would kill themselves and then everyone would starve

one of your crew was a psychologist i think

it was one static adventure-game looking screen with the characters as sprites, pixel art

what was this called?

i enjoyed the freeware version for a while but i'm not sure i've the patience to justifying buying this even for £1.74

Noodle Vape (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 28 November 2015 09:38 (eight years ago) link

there are less sadistic difficulty levels. it's pretty interesting! there is a brief prologue set in the same scene as the freeware version. then it has a flashback to a hostage situation one year earlier. then back then forward. the writing line-by-line isn't quite up to the challenge: most of the narrative thrill still comes from the mechanics. i can't decide what sort of difficulty i want out of it.

Very nice. I had been waiting for a PC version and would have paid for it.

one month passes...

Deleted all my browser cookies to fix an issue with a forum.
Forgot that Trimps uses cookies to save data.
Lost months of progress. Probably for the best, but sigh

Nhex, Wednesday, 27 January 2016 07:12 (eight years ago) link

lol I am still "playing " trimps too

droit au butt (Euler), Wednesday, 27 January 2016 08:15 (eight years ago) link

I got to level 145 in Trimps -- the feeling of progress stops after around level 120. I haven't played it in a few days so I think I've broken that addiction.

good so far, and easy and straightforward enough for me to not get bored

Nhex, Saturday, 2 July 2016 23:01 (seven years ago) link

yeah, "shallow but broad" feels right from what i've played

i did everything except land in the Orphanage. hint?

Nhex, Sunday, 3 July 2016 02:44 (seven years ago) link

haven't done that bit!

eventually figured it out, mission complete. had to go to every single planet and talk to everyone again to find the reference I missed, which wasn't too bad all in all.
i really appreciate when IF isn't insanely obscure/hard. good stuff

Nhex, Sunday, 3 July 2016 09:21 (seven years ago) link

haha definitely!

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Thursday, 21 July 2016 20:44 (seven years ago) link

too irresistable not to type "eat cactus"

Guangchang, thank you man (Noodle Vague), Friday, 22 July 2016 06:55 (seven years ago) link

it wouldn't let me pee on the cactus, knock it over or hiss at it, so I just had to eat it instead

had to

a passing spacecadet, Friday, 22 July 2016 09:50 (seven years ago) link

Glad to know I wasn't the only one who tried peeing on the cactus.

thrusted pelvis-first back (ulysses), Friday, 22 July 2016 14:41 (seven years ago) link

i won on the first command. the equivalent command loses the game in "don't shit your pants".

schwantz, Thursday, 11 August 2016 06:30 (seven years ago) link

I opened it up, clicked a few times, felt my pupils begin to dilate and then x'd out of the tab so hard I almost jammed my finger. Not today.

I look forward to hearing from you shortly, (Karl Malone), Thursday, 11 August 2016 12:26 (seven years ago) link

If it helps, its very short.

glumdalclitch, Thursday, 11 August 2016 12:27 (seven years ago) link

Aw, doesn't stay on when you close the window. Disappoint.

Nhex, Thursday, 11 August 2016 12:41 (seven years ago) link

Nhex, Thursday, 11 August 2016 12:41 (seven years ago) link

Thanks to this I learned about http://www.kingedward.co.uk/king_edward_potato_baker
Which to be quite honest is kind of amazing and whomever wrote the copy for their website should get a hug.

El Tomboto, Thursday, 11 August 2016 13:18 (seven years ago) link

Spaceplan is cute! And it's staying on for me when I change tabs at least.

Silence, followed by unintelligible stammering. (Doctor Casino), Thursday, 11 August 2016 16:26 (seven years ago) link
