amazing you have such beef over people believing in what you deem imaginary deities and yet you believed in luna is there a connection there?

Mayne, do u find that ppl appreciate u in this nagging mode. Srsly now. What % of the time do u find this to be the case, and how do u know, I'm genuinely curious.

I'm going to be charitable and assume you just don't think before posting, or even read what you just typed before hitting the big button.

I'm a big fan of onimo's but he's a nasty habit of leaving his second thoughts posts uncomfortably open imo

Kinda think not explicitly pointing at a thread/poster is part of the game itt but aye - they've a nasty pass-agg look to them I'm not proud of. Especially since I don't post much of anything anywhere these days.

Itt pass-agg posting always tbfttl, iirc mainly because mods didn't like agg on it's lonesome

what i love about this thread is that i can't tell which posts are actual posts people had second thoughts about, and which posts are responses to those posts.

rushomancy, Monday, 30 November 2015 12:38 (eight years ago) link

Ya its good imo

I love trying to figure it out but that's mostly because I like trying to work out if other ppl hate the same ppl I do.

thought about posting 'no way sna' thread posts here but I guess it would be too obvious

Mindblown

i'm a perennial hater of this thread and have been tempted to start posting the obvious-enough ones in the threads themselves

post actually about this thread:

it kinda bums me out when people use this thread for passive-aggressive posts obviously directed at another poster made at a time when they could actually engage in the primary discussion. Most of my posts here are generic/oblique, using this thread as a substitute "i don't know where to post this so I'm putting it here" posts, or total latepass responses to things from weeks/months/years ago that would be meaningless to post in the original thread because discussion has moved on.

On the other hand, it's noteworthy that we've been discussing sociocultural inequity when it comes to speech/communication/interactions, and at some points, it appears to me (at least) that this thread functions as a way to express things when one feels that inequity going on in a thread and being involved in it, is uncomfortable for some of the same reasons that "less privileged" feel uncomfortable in discussions with more privileged ppl.

sarahell, Monday, 30 November 2015 20:14 (eight years ago) link

nah, i heart this thread because it's a testament that sometimes people do think before they post. sometimes becoming more engaged is just not the right thing to do.

I just don't have a twitter

an unproductive and wasteful local dynamic known as “churn” or “turbulence”

thought this was called "freedom"

[i use this thread to be glib (the above) or tasteless (a woody allen joke once) in ways i don't want to defend. i like the thread tho yeah it bums me out when it gets too solidly pass-agg for a while. the occasional bit of pass-agg is as real a guilty lol as any other of course.]

ok but the thread is bumped almost exclusively by white men who roll their eyes when "privilege" comes up in a thread

sorry i don't actually care and don't really want to argue about this, enjoy this thread

I wonder what thread flopson's on about...

the fiest p (onimo), Tuesday, 1 December 2015 15:55 (eight years ago) link

I think it's funny you bring up race when you've aligned yourself with ilx's most egregious exotifiers, as if you can't, for example, find a family resemblance among the "definitive goon cru anthems" and see why the thread is a gross (not to mention narcissistic) project. I don't know what you'd find attractive about White savior race hucksters like Weingarten and deej, the former who is still bitching about tokenism in year end polls as if he's some kind of hero to the oppressed and the latter who makes almost daily anecdotal assertions in his blundering quest to convey his knowingness about Black culture, except that you align with their racially manichean view of the world.

And you were the guy who was grandstanding about the company that, even if it doesn't end up reducing overall transportation coverage to one star neighborhoods with one star, ie Black and Hispanic clients, will put immigrant poc cab drivers out of work in favor of their "sharing" economy White counterparts.

I barely scrolled up, but I can tell that these posters are not all White and not all men.
