Sharon Jones + Dap-Kings Christmas album is a bit disappointing tbh, though "Ain't No Chimneys in the Projects" is still a classic.

^^^ my son played me this as we were trimming the tree over the weekend. I liked the whole thing, but yeah I thought "Chimneys" was the standout. Even The Eagles haven't ruined "Please Come Home For Christmas" for me; Charles Brown original is my favorite holiday tune.

I tried listening to the Cassie Ramone record this morning and nothing really stuck out to me :( I was disappointed, I had high hopes!

Is there a standard version of "Jingle Bells" without any 'interpretation'? Maybe just sung by kids but not on a modern cloying kids album.

I'd kind of been afraid to check out the Dylan album, but based on the rec above I just checked it out.
Overall, pretty fun! Obviously he sounds a bit Tom Waits in places, which some may consider an asset-it certainly is on 'Must Be Santa'.

I didn't sell that Chet Baker christmas album properly when describing it as maudlin upthread, it is actually quite jaunty in places and I was overstating the amount of depresso variations on the album, which is only a few of the tracks really.

I really like the version of Amazing Grace on the Chet Baker.
Every year it seems like there's one old Christmas record I'm super excited to find, only to discover it's a dud. Sadly this year it's the Gladys Night record.
On the other hand, holy crap that Dwight Yoakam Christmas record.

'Wonderful Christmas Time" is the best of the big pop hits.

After listening to some of the recs here I feel my former opinion of "Solely Spector and Guaraldi" is the Xmas equivalent of "I love jazz! I own Kind of Blue."
