xp: yeah, championing may make me bump Ares from my 3rd spot for her; I always worry about her low health and Ares is great for "I've taken all the green on the board, have a giant Onslaught nuke"

side note, i've been saving taco tokens since the conversation weeks ago about saving them... just before the savory thing ended, i had like 40, i was like "ooh let's just open 4 for fun" (even though i am planning to save until 50)... second one opened nick fury, didn't open another, felt good

I had over 60 tokens across events and DDQ saved and opened them all once championing went live, with the logic being that anything I couldn't use could be sold to get ISO to champion more characters

currently at 41+52 on DDP tokens. don't know why haven't pulled trigger yet...

Lot of forumites are championing Ares because they say he scales up ridiculously, though I'm not that tempted to re-build him. Also CStorm champions out Mohawk, who champs out Goddess Thor, which is why I'm even thinking about sinking 100K+ ISO in Mohawk. xxxp

v seriously considering this, i'm slowly champing out my 166s as they go on the DDQ right now though, there's been a stretch where it's all ma dudes. i've got stever, big pun and patch over the next ~7, then it's taco time.

Actually I think my next champions is going to be 2* Daken because I've championed 3* and I can pipeline the covers and get to the X-23 covers faster

it's kind of hilarious that so many people soft-capped IM40 at 5/5/2 and then they put Hulkbuster covers on his champion mode

*pfffft* I 166'd IM40 back in the early days and never looked back

ftr I disagree with soft-capping because I don't have time for that level of min-maxing, plus I feel like no one actually gets that the most effective use of IM40 is to Recharge, drain your other AP colors while he's stunned, and then hit his blue/red which will still do just as much damage but not be as expensive overall because you've already used the AP you had in other colors; I've used him to singlehandedly destroy 3* teams, especially when he's buffed; having 3 in Recharge helps you fuel the inevitable green user on your roster who will help tear down opposition while IM40 is stunned and the remaining HP on most 3*s that you'd face will end up so low after the red/blue hammer that you can mop them up in 1-2 turns even if you ignored the AP drain

i definitely get the 552 build, it's what i had for a v long time (due to lack of covers, not intentional) and i do miss the speed, getting 8 yellow took a lot less effort. but yeah, i don't mind now, especially b/c i have good green guys now, which i didn't then.

i was kinda thinking about using the rewards as a way to feed my 4*s (e.g. champ 94 thor, get more 166 thors, get red hulks) but then i realized i would still need ~97 more 3* thor covers to get the third red hulk, lol.

Was thinking something similar and came to the same conclusion. Feels like the aim is to buff up your 3*s so they are usable until you get a competitive 4* team... which will still take quite some time to covermax, even with more opportunities for Legendary tokens.

I guess I'm still the only one out there repping for 5 Yellow in IM40, because I love that ALL COLOR BOOST POWER

That's the conventional wisdom. I disagree, mostly because I think ppl are evaluating him in a vacuum instead of in concert with other characters

I'll be taking IM40 from 5/5/2 to 5/5/3 just for champion rewards. I rarely use him.

The current character to soft-cap the level of is Prof. X, because 3*BW/Scarlet Witch can dictate the AP from his match-5 passive if his level is low enough.

Today's legendaries: Red Hulk green, first cover; Carnage black, now 1/2/4.

I use the hell out of my 5/5/2 IM40 because I pair him with Lazy Steve to set up the big shield combo, which is incredibly useful in PVE (except seemingly this current one where I cannot get yellow matches quickly enough).

hey i just report the news. that's the rationale.

i only have 2 blue im40 covers so i have no opinion one way or the other and i'm forever thinking of opening up the roster slot.

IMO IM40 gets outgunned by other 3*s like Iron Fist and Luke Cage but was an instrumental transitional character for me, given his damage potential and his stun.

Pulls have been joyous and painful all at once.
Did well enough in PvE and PvP to earn the HP to add Iceman to my roster. Yes!
From Enemy of the State, pulled a green X-Force Wolverine which I can't use. Still gunning for the Yellow cover I need in the Divine PVP but competition is too low to get to 1000 points, it seems. And even if I get that, my XFW is at 250, so that's 80K+ iso to get him to 270 which I don't see happening without spending $$$.
Also pulled a 3* Bullseye... which added to today's DDQ makes a second wasted Bullseye cover. He's not getting Championed anytime soon either.

I just championed Hood, got a Nick Fury blue cover from the legendary token

basically championing is the best innovation they've added to this game since dropping the cover requirements for leveling powers

the other day i remembered that "Team Up" gems were added later on in development, but I couldn't remember what was before them. Then today I remembered out of nowhere and actually loled a little bit. HOT DOG STAND

another daily legendaries update

Hulkbuster blue, now 3/3/3.
5* Logan yellow! 2/1/0, i think he's usable now. I got really lucky with 5*s this week.

Now I have only Gamora and Bullseye covers in my rewards stack -- I have those characters at max covers, but they're at levels 153 and 120. I might have to sell these covers.

Out of my 22 legendaries this week: 16 useful 4*s, 2 Falcaps I sold, 4 5*s.

17 from championing 3*s, 2 from CP, not sure where the other 4*s came from.

Whoa, 17 costs 127.5K iso! Where did most of that come from, the DDQ tokens?

around 30k saved up before champions arrived, around 50 taco tokens cashed in (i got 10k iso once), some covers saved, the rest mostly from PVE (DDQ gives 3500/day).

it costs around the same amount to max a single 3*. which i had done 30 times previously. including PSYLOCKE -- finally worth it.

Good call on the IW advice, was able to take down Quicksilver with one try (fully boosted AP of course).

I kept getting boxed into corners where my invisibility would get matched away and then he would invariably Fists of Fury/Supersonic me to death; still got it in three tries though (got a red Thing cover)

three tries here too. i managed to keep my invisibility more or less in check the first two times but i wasn't managing his blue-match power, you gotta do that because the fight takes forever and if he pops that move off a couple times i'm dead. i got an ant man >:(

one thing I realized early on is that it made more sense to go after his frozen team-ups rather than denying him blue at the expense of green, so I boosted my team-up dmg and that helped tremendously in my last attempt

Took me about 5-6 tries to beat the IW node, kept getting yellow-starved boards. Pulled a red Carnage :/ but then got a purple Rulk from an unrelated event token.

Got enough ISO to 166 Deadpool, but now I need another 3.5K to actually champion him, rmde.

Purple: weakens enemy strike tiles, has a passive invisibility when a member of the opposite team is stunned
Green: large single-target damage, stuns a random member of the opposite team
Blue: normally cheap, quick damage with a stun, turns into a quick damage nuke if Spidey is invisible

I am not sure how you win against this 5-star as every ability makes him invisible and, from a position of invisibility, he can 1-shot you

the general d3 position for that kind of game breaking mechanic seems to be "we'll work it out in post"

don't put IM40 up against him, or use Cyclops's Full Blast
