This album kind of reminds me of Avalanche by Quadron but if it had been produced by Stevie Wonder at his peak. There's some Minnie Riperton in there too which is never a bad thing.

It's basically 12 songs that give me the same feeling as Ex Factor Lauryn Hill does and it's perfect.

I doubt I would have heard of them if it wasn't for this place and I'm grateful to everyone who has championed them over the last few years. Feeling pretty emotional about this record right now.

Sorry to hear you missed out nomar. Also sorry I misjudged your original post and mentioned I was going to see them in a few weeks. They aren't coming on stage until after 11 so there's a chance I'll fall asleep and miss the show. If I do, I'll be sure to come on here and tell you.

I'm going to try and wait for the vinyl too. Will be looking forward to getting it probably some time in September.

two listens and i'm kinda with al. it's certainly LUSH but i need greater fidelity, a fair amount of time and a live experience.

i listened to most of this on NPR this morning whilst staggering around, not bad.

Digging this! Some sophisticated stuff going on. Was thinking how much I would hate it exactly as is but with some indie waif singing, so thank goodness it's not. Love the trend of people making music that echoes stuff I used to love on the radio when I was in the single digits. Waving a wand to put them on tour with HAIM and give both a huge budget and a time machine (Time machine?) to work with 1986 Jam/Lewis

This is a great album. Is this their actual first album? I remember hearing The Story EP years ago and was confused when I saw it on this one... I guess it's really a compilation.

it's their first album but all the songs they've released to date except for the Fela cover they did for a Red+Hot comp are on here

it was exactly the same as the show i saw 1.5 years ago but the place felt packed and everyone was going nuts, it was amazing

ok, the chord progressions are insane. who's the melodic genius behind their sound? i feel like i haven't listened to an album that rich in ages, lots of stevie obv but also nods to fagen and jobim in the harmonic dept. i'm impressed.
