Hahaha for lolz try Cyclops/Doom/IF.

La Lechazunga (Leee), Saturday, 13 February 2016 04:24 (eight years ago) link

My favorite IF team is IF/Luke Cage/Scarlet Witch. Easy purple AP converted into a board of black tiles converted into damage and stun.

remove butt (abanana), Saturday, 13 February 2016 04:31 (eight years ago) link

Got my first OML, a yellow. He is fierce.

droit au butt (Euler), Saturday, 13 February 2016 05:01 (eight years ago) link

Nice!

My dumb Starlord is at 4-2-3,, l152 and yet I've lost like 10 times so far. What's your strategy?

droit au butt (Euler), Saturday, 13 February 2016 05:53 (eight years ago) link

Damage boosts and a lot of luck, I'm guessing. I've gotten her down to 2000 before I die. Purple is the only power I have that does significant damage.

remove butt (abanana), Saturday, 13 February 2016 07:03 (eight years ago) link

All the 4* DDQs are heavily luck-dependent, but this one is probably the most; the most you can do is to be very disciplined about denying the opponent's colors. Red and black are the most important in this case -- 10 APs worth of Razor's Edge is probably 6K damage, and her black will fill every yellow on the board with strikes -- though green gives her a couple free turns and 2K damage. (Amazingly enough I survived her black just because I was able to clear all the strikes in a couple turns -- two of them were in a match-3, another I cleared by overwriting it with a purple, and the last I killed with a handy match-4.)

Like you really have to internalize that if there's a choice between a match for one of your colors vs. one of the AI's, ALWAYS go for the AI's (unless yours sets up a match 5). It's tempting to go for one of your colors of course, and if I see a multi-match/mini-cascade, I don't know that I'd be able to resist it -- it's a fine line between prolonging the match, the damage you could potentially do, and the damage you'd potentially take.

While you're denying, make use of your red in a timely way -- they apparently stack on top of each other to make the cost of the AI's powers go up (i.e. two CD tiles will increase her costs by two), plus the damage they deliver when they resolve. So wait till she's getting close to firing one of her abilities, then cast red -- it might not delay her but it'll tax her AP stockpile a little, and you'll need every advantage you can get.

If you get enough yellow, use it when you're close or have enough to fire off your red to save some AP.

Pray pray pray that you can get enough purple to kill her before she kills you.

And yes, boosts. I tried to be cute and win this w/o the 150% all-color match damage and +3 colors (the retired ones!), but I only started getting close to victory once I used the Good Boosts.

Oh and my Star-Lord is almost identical to yours (4/2/3 @ 153).

man... that moment when you see the big gold cover turns so quickly into that moment when you get falcap to 0/3/0

I got the legendary token from a token in the pvp today! Pulled a Ant Man, which isn't great, but not terrible either.

droit au butt (Euler), Saturday, 13 February 2016 20:41 (eight years ago) link

I pulled back-to-back three-stars I didn't need from one-star tokens. arggh

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Saturday, 13 February 2016 20:51 (eight years ago) link

Did they announce that the DDQ was going to be tougher or was that just a surprise?

Kiarostami bag (milo z), Saturday, 13 February 2016 21:49 (eight years ago) link

it was mentioned in this video, not sure it was supposed to go live today

remove butt (abanana), Saturday, 13 February 2016 22:02 (eight years ago) link

what happened?

Nhex, Saturday, 13 February 2016 23:05 (eight years ago) link

Ultron goons and friends added to the Big Enchilada.

La Lechazunga (Leee), Saturday, 13 February 2016 23:47 (eight years ago) link

they upped the "challenge" on every node but i also think they may have skewed the drop to be player friendly? the attacks are certainly lower damage for some of the nodes. still able to cruise through all of them with the same strategy.

looks helpful

Nhex, Monday, 15 February 2016 07:59 (eight years ago) link

From my observation on the DDP changes, 1* is harder (2 AI chars + 1 minion instead of 2 minion + 1 AI), first 2* stage is easier (two waves of 1 AI + 2 minion) and The Big Enchilada is much easier (the waves with 3 chars were downgraded to 1 char + 2 minion). Final 2* stage didn't seem to change.

Nhex, Monday, 15 February 2016 09:17 (eight years ago) link

plus 3 star in the 1* no?

droit au butt (Euler), Monday, 15 February 2016 09:49 (eight years ago) link

also my phoenix is 1-2-1 and I've been pumping levels into her because she was hilariously fun buffed in the pvp matchmaking tourney. in particular her green is a resurrection but after she resurrects it turns into a phoenix power, for 9 green, that, at my lame level (~270 -> ~360 buffed) does 8000 to the enemy *team* (and 2000 damage to my team). the first time it trigged I had enough green to set it off twice and it turned what had been a cascade shitshow against me into a resounding victory.

Just 100 more days till my first SS!

La Lechazunga (Leee), Tuesday, 16 February 2016 04:05 (eight years ago) link

100 days will go by fast...
xp yeah that buffed phoenix res power was hilarious

Nhex, Tuesday, 16 February 2016 10:13 (eight years ago) link

Old Man Logan with Daken is a fun team. Daken's cheap blue destroys strike tiles for damage and then OML's passive puts down more. third character: DEVIL DINOSAUR, useful at last, for cheap purple and green powers.

I finally got the Professor's final yellow, meaning he finally creates strike tiles as well. I should try OML and PX together.

remove butt (abanana), Tuesday, 16 February 2016 10:27 (eight years ago) link

think maybe I'm gonna max level my 5 stars next. even a fairly low covered 5 star does so much tile damage alone that they can work in "advanced" pvp. my OML only has one cover, he's obviously the one with the most low cover potential for pvp, but SS and Phoenix shine too. against buffed maxed Scarlet Witches resistance to stun is huge.

droit au butt (Euler), Tuesday, 16 February 2016 10:31 (eight years ago) link

Random stun might be avoiding stun-resistant characters now. I tried using SW's stun against a team with Ultron Prime and it gave a "resist" message and stunned another character at the same time.

remove butt (abanana), Tuesday, 16 February 2016 10:43 (eight years ago) link

oh, no doubt, but at least the stun resistant character won't get stunned, which means you can keep up the high tile damage, & even tank colors you wouldn't otherwise, while continuing to heal.

Just got a black Brock cover from a Doc Ock token

its subtle brume (DJP), Wednesday, 17 February 2016 03:49 (eight years ago) link

That's his worst power. :\

La Lechazunga (Leee), Wednesday, 17 February 2016 04:01 (eight years ago) link

Yeah, I saw that.

Still, 1/1/0

its subtle brume (DJP), Wednesday, 17 February 2016 12:46 (eight years ago) link

My One-Cover Wonder (0/1/0) took 4-5 tries, but I managed to win. ^__^

Pulled 1000 ISO (XFW yellow, who's already 5/5/3 and nowhere near championing). -__-

La Lechazunga (Leee), Wednesday, 17 February 2016 17:13 (eight years ago) link

Started out with no more than one pink tile in either of my two tries. Goddamit.

Kiarostami bag (milo z), Wednesday, 17 February 2016 17:13 (eight years ago) link

According to my lol xls, I've opened a legendary for 4 consecutive days, and 7 during the last 8 days, 10 for February. What's more, I'm starting to get covers that I'm not able to apply, so I'll probably have to hoard my legendaries till I have millions (or some multiple of 300K) of ISO to max a 4*. xp

La Lechazunga (Leee), Wednesday, 17 February 2016 17:18 (eight years ago) link

PX vs. Elektra was stupid easy with PX at 2/2/5. I got another Phoenix red, now 0/1/4.

remove butt (abanana), Wednesday, 17 February 2016 18:43 (eight years ago) link

twenty minutes with a 1/1/0
hulkbuster red, now 3/0/0

ulysses, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 18:46 (eight years ago) link

how are you guys winning with such low covers on Chuck?

Nhex, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 18:46 (eight years ago) link

start with bonuses of pink/blue +2 & max out blue/pink damage and crit damage
get purple and go invisible as quickly as possible
(die about five times doing the above and then losing your purple chit)
slowly chip away at elektra's health and protect protect protect the invisible tile
aim for purple so you have an immediate backup if the invisible tile pops
get about 75 turns and preserve your invisible
win

ulysses, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 18:51 (eight years ago) link

mine's 1/0/0 so i'm not even gonna try

Worth Taking from Little Kid (Will M.), Wednesday, 17 February 2016 19:00 (eight years ago) link

it's easier with 2 purple as you can improve the strike tiles Elektra gives you.

remove butt (abanana), Wednesday, 17 February 2016 19:12 (eight years ago) link

yeah if you don't have the invisible power, don't bother.

ulysses, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 19:33 (eight years ago) link

i'm still recovering my boosts from when I wiped out on all those Ant-Man tries last week. i'll see how it goes

Nhex, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 19:39 (eight years ago) link

Boosts help, but getting a good board and using the right strategy are just as important. For an under-covered Prof, you definitely want to deny black so that she can't Shadow Step, thereby prolonging the match and increasing the chances that your Invisibility tile gets destroyed. Then whether or not you let her collect purple to give you strike tiles is up to you (I chose not to because I wanted to get as much backup purple as possible), and try to protect that tile (and if it's matchable, usually let her match it).

La Lechazunga (Leee), Wednesday, 17 February 2016 21:29 (eight years ago) link

Just beat Elektra on my first attempt with a 0/1/2 lvl 70 Prof X

Basically I'd you can stay invisible, you can't lose; I boosted 2 b/p, 2 all, +100% dmg but didn't need the dmg boost

its subtle brume (DJP), Wednesday, 17 February 2016 21:48 (eight years ago) link

checked my roster, realized my Prof X is 1/0/2 *blah*

Nhex, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 23:17 (eight years ago) link

Oh that SUUUUUUX

its subtle brume (DJP), Thursday, 18 February 2016 00:06 (eight years ago) link

Beasted Beast today, just need to find that last ~3K of ISO before my queued cover of his expires.

La Lechazunga (Leee), Thursday, 18 February 2016 17:38 (eight years ago) link

I am trying very hard not to break down and buy ISO for Daredevil but time is running out

Next up: Doom
