it's an hour long, right? i expect that is worth it

Nourry, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 21:01 (eight years ago) link

This album is going to cause mass fatalities on ILX I fear.

Tim F, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 21:07 (eight years ago) link

"she's american" is basically the only song that resembles the debut, other than the few moments i'm reminded of "menswear"

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Wednesday, 17 February 2016 22:41 (eight years ago) link

there was a party that you had to miss
because your friend kept cutting her wrists
hyperpoliticized sexual trysts
"oh i think my boyfriend is a nihilist"

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Wednesday, 17 February 2016 22:57 (eight years ago) link

stop, Brad. stop ;_;

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Thursday, 18 February 2016 04:32 (eight years ago) link

i mean cool if they go all gooey but i hope there some songs with big, prominent drums on this album as that was one of my favourite features of the first one (see: "the city", "talk", "heart out")

art baengels (monotony), Thursday, 18 February 2016 04:47 (eight years ago) link

it is way less of a thing on this record (in fact you've prob heard most of the songs with enormous drums) but they're there on "she's american" and "the ballad of me & my brain"

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Thursday, 18 February 2016 14:37 (eight years ago) link

Tango In The Night is a really big record for us as well, by Fleetwood Mac. That really inspired this record. Yeah, Scritti Polliti. Alexander O’Neal, funnily enough, was a big part of this record; we love that album Hearsay. Michael and Janet Jackson too.

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Friday, 19 February 2016 01:13 (eight years ago) link

ilm: the album

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Friday, 19 February 2016 01:13 (eight years ago) link

Off topic a bit, but just listened to M83's "Graveyard Girl" for the first time in probably a few years and noticed how strikingly similar the verses are to those in "Milk".

i'll quote on the road like a twat
and wind my way out of the city
finding a girl who is equally pretty won't be hard
i just had a change of heart

The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 22:15 (eight years ago) link

stereogum put a thing up which doesn't say much other than "lol they sound like a lot of different things, but it all kind of works"

art baengels (monotony), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 22:16 (eight years ago) link

stereogum seem really enthusiastic about it but the review spends too much time unsuccessfully trying to defend it to their readers

ufo, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 22:52 (eight years ago) link

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 22:59 (eight years ago) link
