oh i'm aware of both of those things. still wasn't expecting this kind of reception

stereogum seem really enthusiastic about it but the review spends too much time unsuccessfully trying to defend it to their readers

Well I have often thought they would pull off a good cover of Round Here.

"Mr Jones" performed as if it's secretly Simply Red's "It's Only Love (Valentine Remix)".

(Simply Red are one of the few remaining useful reference points that doesn't seem to come up in respect of this band)

The way Breihan describes them at Stereogum makes me think of Franz Ferdinand (who I liked for their first 3 albums). And I liked the debut, so I'll definitely check this out.

omg She's American is an idealised version of the first album it's fantastic. the sax solo is different to the live version though weird. I Believe You really does sound like D'Angelo it's gorgeous

lol sorry i love so many parts of this record

they don't really resemble each other musically but i've been thinking of it in conjunction with the paramore s/t both in terms of length and of feeling a group really expand their dimensions

Please Be Naked through to The Ballad of Me And My Brain wow this is so expansive & there's nothing close to a dud so far.

Pressure on the debut kinda reminded me of the Paramore s/t

very excited for everybody to hear the stretch of please be naked -> title track, world contracting into a single molecule vibes
