I happen to be one of those guys.

Ok. I don't know Osborne or what TV he watched in the early 90's, so I won't say anything else, but he strikes me a bit better than Motorcitysoul.

listening to Groovetechnology v1.3 for the first time. first impression: hideous mixing.

is that the Swayzak mix? they can't mix for shit. the Electro Groovetech cds are much better.

yeah, swayzak. i can't believe 2 people combined couldn't mix properly.

Listening to Jetone (aka Tim Hecker) - Ultramarin, and it's really quite good. Like Mikael Stavostrand - Reduce, really good atmospheric minimal techno, rich textures etc.

I picked up doubles of Lets Pet Puppies 04 yesterday, definitely worth looking into.

This just got the repress treatment as well.

Incidentally, I keep seeing Globetrotting in my local 2nd hand shop (for about $5). Thought it was a mix until I checked discogs just now. Has anyone heard it?

I have this, but I haven't listened to it for years. From what I remember it's a pretty hard and kicking and somewhat technoish house album. Not too different from general mid-90s Eurohouse, but not a bad album either. I'd say it's worth the 5$ for "Tokyo Stealth Fighter" alone, which is a pretty great, stripped-down club banger.

My goodness, was invited to the record store basement, snapped 16 used records, including stuff like R. Hood's Monobox, Mike Shannon, Sieg Uber Die Sonne, and the biggest headfuck of all Alex Under's Multiplicanciones 2, which I've been looking for for years, and haven't been able to get online, out of nowhere, and used!

I'm pleased.

Yeah I know, but I've only ever ordered things off Forced exposure, and I've only ordered things online twice (I guess my comment was kind of misleading or, uhhh, just untrue).

And it's still less than half the price of any of those, before shipping etc.

huh, i got that record in Cleveland for $4 in 06. not my favorite work of his, i must admit.

actually, scartch that, 'D' is quite a nice track and i've used it in sets once in a while.

It's an original copy, sounds like poor mastering - all mid tone, but on certain tracks thoughs (the ddep inside dub sounds relatively fine but the original mix doesn't)

sadly, the pressing on the main street stuff ain't so hot -- at least, not on round two, "new day." i actually asked moritz about that in an interview a couple of weeks back, and he said that they had that record pressed in chicago (or detroit, but i think chicago), and the poor result was part of the inspiration for starting up D+M.

amazing fucking tune, though.

The original pressings of Basic Channel related records were cut by Ron Murphy at NSC and pressed at Archer in Detroit.

My copy of "I'm Your Brother" sounds fine, but maybe it is ruff and i just don't notice 'cause it kinda suits the tune.

I love that tune so much.

one time you should check out the ep with "moved" and "flatfunk" on it...forget which label it was on, really good stuff.

The review by the guy on discogs sums it up perfectly. What a great mix. So nice to hear dj's taking risks - not sure if you could replicate the excitement DC does here using Ableton... but anyway.

working on a new mix...mostly 2000s era minimal bobbins right now, tho starts out with something new.

Dirk Lamprecht- Jack
Agnes- Meg White (this track never fails to make me swoon)
Alex Under- D (all about the last couple minutes here, with those thundering chords and backward churning)
Minilogue- Bird Song (wish this one didn't peter out towards the end, but beautiful nonetheless)
D'Julz- Flick It! (D3 Mix) (original is kinda mediocre, remix is lush and slamming)

going into a bit more heady territory soon (GEZ VARLEY), but still keeping with an older minimal vibe...

so, speaking of Cajual etc., can we talk about Spencer Kincey/Gemini? this shit is killing me right now.

I really liked "Pelargonium" back in the 1990s, so I got the album it's on, I think it was called Fog and Lights or something? Wasn't too impressed by it back then, I thought sounded a bit too smooth and nice. It's been 10+ years since I last listened to his stuff though, maybe should give it a new try?
