I want to poll the new album so bad but it's too sooooooon
― self-clowning oven (Murgatroid), Sunday, 20 March 2016 04:35 (eight years ago) link
bought the album on vinyl and digging it, but it didn't come w/ a download code. before i write 'em to ask for one, just wanted to make sure others' did ... or didn't. thx!
― alpine static, Monday, 11 April 2016 14:35 (eight years ago) link
I recently got the first album new and that didn't come with one. I'm waiting to try and find a copy below $40 before I get the new album. If it doesn't come with a code that is absolutely ridiculous considering the price.
― Kitchen Person, Monday, 11 April 2016 14:40 (eight years ago) link
i bought the latest album on vinyl and it came with a download code!

This is a joke, right? You're not seriously telling me that the vinyl costs four times as much as the CD?
― the top man in the language department (誤訳侮辱), Monday, 11 April 2016 16:51 (eight years ago) link
This is extremely common nowadays.
― a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Monday, 11 April 2016 16:56 (eight years ago) link
Unfortunately I'm not joking about that price. Most modern records it's usually $12 for the CD and around $20 for the vinyl which seems reasonable to me. There are exceptions and this is sadly one of them.
― Kitchen Person, Monday, 11 April 2016 17:16 (eight years ago) link
from my very cursory investigation it looked like they actually tried to make the packaging for the i like it when you sleep vinyl actually worth the $40 where a lot of times it's just a record in a sleeve with a single piece of paper
― J0rdan S., Monday, 11 April 2016 18:21 (eight years ago) link
and at least it's legit double album length, not like the recent trend of distributing albums that barely break 40 mins over four sides of vinyl.

Inspirations, from the hand typed PR from Matthew …
Fellini - The Clown (1970)(make up/facial expressions/era/mood)Michael Jackson as Charlie Chaplin(Smile/childhood/messages of a better world)Gene Kelly (Not as smooth, less confidence)Bob Fosse (youtube various clips of Bob Fosse dancing. Around 6mins, the duet)The Wiz (the way the feet shuffle when they walk up the yellow brick road for the first time)The Cloudwww.richardclarkson.comRobbersla poesie est dans la ruesense of resignation.I want to convey the resignation in being a clown. i am have been and will always be a clown. i think it can tire people.for the sake of subtext and self reference it should be in black and white. also more chic

Just been listening to my "highlights" of the second album and I think this flows nicely:
The 1975UGH!A Change of HeartShe's AmericanPlease Be NakedLostmyheadThe Ballad of Me and My BrainSomebody ElseI Like it When You Sleep...The SoundThis Must Be My Dream
Hardly radical. Would maybe move "I Like It..." to the end.
― michaellambert, Thursday, 5 May 2016 22:25 (eight years ago) link
no paris no credibility

Ah, good point well made.
The 1975UGH!A Change of HeartShe's AmericanThe SoundPlease Be NakedLostmyheadThe Ballad of Me and My BrainSomebody ElseThis Must Be My DreamParisI Like it When You Sleep...
― michaellambert, Thursday, 5 May 2016 22:34 (eight years ago) link
no 1975 at all maximum credibility

No more changes
― michaellambert, Thursday, 5 May 2016 23:02 (eight years ago) link
ideal version of this album has "The Ballad of Me and My Brain" play three times in a row.
But apart from that the correct short version of this album is:
I Like it When You Sleep...The SoundIf I Believe You (HOW COULD YOU LEAVE THIS OFF)UGH!She's AmericanPlease Be NakedLostmyheadThe Ballad of Me and My BrainThis Must Be My DreamParisSomebody ElseA Change of Heart (with extra two minutes of the final guitar loop)
― Tim F, Thursday, 5 May 2016 23:49 (eight years ago) link
Brad's right. No Paris, no credibility.

yes
― J0rdan S., Friday, 13 May 2016 15:51 (eight years ago) link
i like that in everyone's short version of the album no one got rid of the three long mostly instrumental tracks
― HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Friday, 13 May 2016 16:03 (eight years ago) link
"everyone" meaning, i guess, michaellambert and tim
I would not either
― And the cry rang out all o'er the town / Good Heavens! Tay is down (imago), Friday, 13 May 2016 16:05 (eight years ago) link
also "loving someone" is weird, it's easily my least favorite track on the album and yet i know several people who think it's the best thing ever
― HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Friday, 13 May 2016 16:07 (eight years ago) link
yeah "loving someone" is the only one i routinely skipz
― J0rdan S., Friday, 13 May 2016 16:12 (eight years ago) link
skip...............
it would be a great bonus track maybe, but it's the only song that breaks the album's flow.I really like the song on its own though, the verses are where it's at, dull chorus though.
― droit au butt (Euler), Friday, 13 May 2016 16:19 (eight years ago) link
the production on the second verse of "if i believe you" routinely blows me away. the sudden choir bursts, the decaying percussion
― HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Friday, 13 May 2016 17:14 (eight years ago) link
the production on that entire song is unbelievable. the way his voice mutates slowly mutates into a robot's on the outro is one of my fav parts on the entire album.

the album is stylistically all over the place & better for it. chorus is awesome
― Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Friday, 13 May 2016 18:31 (eight years ago) link
i absolutely love "loving someone" but then i also enjoyed large swathes of the ed sheeran album so
WE'RE ALL HUMANWE'RE JUST LIKE YOU MANWE'RE SENTIENT OR SOMETHING OR OTHER I CAN'T REMEMBER WHATEVER
and i think it flows very well in the album, the "you should be loving someone" opening as the echoes of a ghost that haunts the characters of "somebody else" or something or other
be honest y'all are being unfair to it bc it's sandwiched btwn the 2 best songs of all time
― uberweiss, Saturday, 14 May 2016 18:20 (eight years ago) link
idk it's grown on me a lot but it's still a lesser "so far it's alright"
― HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Saturday, 14 May 2016 18:27 (eight years ago) link
also the thought of the album not starting with "the 1975" into "love me" is making me want to kill myself your tracklist edits are offensive
― uberweiss, Saturday, 14 May 2016 19:11 (eight years ago) link
don't get me wrong I really really like Loving Someone it's just an awkward moment in the flow
― droit au butt (Euler), Saturday, 14 May 2016 20:00 (eight years ago) link
I think this album's sprawlingness is a big part of its charm so my edit would keep it more or less as it is, with possible removal of If I Believe You to irritate the real headz
― And the cry rang out all o'er the town / Good Heavens! Tay is down (imago), Sunday, 15 May 2016 13:04 (eight years ago) link
'if i believe you' is p good actually. i wouldn't change it at all
