Impromptu ILXor meeting last night: Cozen
Not-very-impromptu ILXor meeting: Madchen and Stet
Fairly impromptu, but not entirely unexpected, ILXor meeting: Keith W
Celeb count at B&S gig: Gerry Love, Stephen Pastel (Madchen took a sneaky photo), that bird what used to do that late night debate thing we talked about upthread that Stew was on once - oh, yeah, Trial By Night.

We think Murdoch's had singing lessons.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 14:29 (eighteen years ago) link

Oh, yeah, other celeb at B&S = Sandy Nelson who plays the postie in Still Game and was in the Century of Fakers video. Glasgow's good for liggers, isn't it?

he went to my school.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 22:23 (eighteen years ago) link

He used to be in a comedy musical thingie called Tequila Mockingbird. They were like an indie version of the Barron Knights. He used to be in my social circle when I moved in different social circles several years ago. He made a shed-load of money for being in Braveheart for about ten seconds. There ends my knowledge of rubbish Sandy Nelson facts.

I too am wavering about this. I was spectacularly dissapointed with the mayer/kohnke night in april. Plus, I have to work on sunday, although not until the afternoon.

I haven't had a drink since last Saturday! Worrrying, I feel more fuzzy headed in the morning than I usually do. Last night seems hazy.

Well it was given out along with a promotional leaflet for Gl4sg0w Ch1r0pr4ct1c - with whom I've previously associated Sc1ent0l0gy type practices (see Chiropractors...do they work?) so they may be adopting new techniques to get us all to pay cash money to eradicte musculoskeletal subluxations.

and no, I haven't eaten it yet, but it looks more appetising than the dry looking clementines I brougt from home.

Can you get off the subway at Buchanan St and get back on the same train at St Enoch's? Mebbe. See The Subway Challenge (note you probably need to Save Link As... to see the video)

stet (stet), Sunday, 22 January 2006 22:20 (eighteen years ago) link

haw, that was rubbish! Saying that, I usually take the car to Govan and get the subway to Buchanan Street. On Friday, I left the house at the same time I usually do, but instead of going along Govan Road, I cut through the Clyde Tunnel, parked just off Dumbarton Road, and got an earlier train than I usually get by the time I've fannied about parking at Govan and getting to the station (yet, sadly, no brownie points for being in work earlier). Perhaps I should film it.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 22 January 2006 22:33 (eighteen years ago) link

they kinda set it all up first time round so that the continuity proves whether he succeeds or not. he doesn't. but then on the second try he does succeed but the continuity isn;t there. also there are too many cameras filming him coming out of the station for the second try, which there isn't first time. i caLL shenanigans.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 22 January 2006 22:37 (eighteen years ago) link

But, first time, they start by concentrating on one woman in the carriage, then once he gets off they concentrate on other people. Then, when he turns up, it's not about the people on the carriage at all. (I might not have been paying full attention, but still, surely it would be more continuity-friendly to be concentrating on the random passengers?). Seconded on the shenanigans front (hence why I said "that was rubbish" but I failed to explain why)

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 22 January 2006 22:42 (eighteen years ago) link

yeah, i guess the continuity is wrong both times.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 22 January 2006 22:44 (eighteen years ago) link

although proving that would involve having to watch it again and it was a bit of a chore first time.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 22 January 2006 22:45 (eighteen years ago) link

I reckon though, the first time when the continuity is all perfect, he's just a fraction too late. So even though the filming's a bit shoddy on the second one, he could well have made it.

I like how he puts the ticket in, even though the rules say you can break the law

stet (stet), Sunday, 22 January 2006 22:54 (eighteen years ago) link

stet, you didn't have your top critical journalist cynic hat on when you looked at that clip, did you?

also, it's just over a week till payday. We should, like, organise a "hurrah, it's February, we survived Christmas and now can afford to go back out again" FAP for after the end of the month, shouldn't we?

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 22 January 2006 22:55 (eighteen years ago) link

I realise that suggesting the organising of a FAP at 11pm on a Sunday night is the crappest idea ever, but hey :)

STATION BAR!!!

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 22 January 2006 22:57 (eighteen years ago) link

i may even come to that, ailsa ;)

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 22 January 2006 23:16 (eighteen years ago) link

I was in Glasgow last weekend, at the ABC Club. If you are an Oriental girl who I sat next to and we chatted about dark beer for a while, I'd like to get in touch :) I was the lanky one with the check shirt.

Who else was in the ABC club on the 14th?? I wonder how much of a small world this is......
