(At the moment the politically correct term in Finnish is "immigrants", since over 90% of people of African descent have come here as refugees or immigrants during the last 15+ years. The term "Afro-Finnish" has been introduced lately, and that might gain popularity in the future, since there already is a second generation of teens who've lived all of their lives here, and shouldn't probably be called "immigrants".)

From livesets.com
As most of you will know, last week Mark Spoon died at the age of 39. Born Markus Loffel, he is best known as half of German trance duo Jam & Spoon and has been shaking up dance floors and dance charts around the planet since the early '90s.

During the years Mark made remixes for many artists and bands such as Paul van Dyk, Dr. Alban, Moby, Technotronic, Enigma, Deep Forest, Age Of Love, Pet Shop Boys, Frankie Goes To Hollywood and, last but not least, Mark was a well known DJ in the international dance scene.

From the music history thread on ILM:

Music of the slaves has its origins in the ancient field songs of Greco-Roman slaves. The tradition, which is primarily performed a capella (though other instruments, usually a Jew's harp or balalaika, are sometimes employed), was first captured on primitive recording equipment by Lomaxus in the outskirts of Athens in 57 B.C. The tradition was imported to America by Mediterranean immigrants. To this day, American slaves continue to play a prominent role in the music industry, the most notable recent example being Britney Spears, whose "Slave 4 U" reminded the world that this classical slave tradition still survives more than two thousand years after its arrival.

A 21-year-old Virginia university student, a sociology major, recently cleaned up her Facebook profile -- including removing a picture of her pole-dancing in a cowgirl outfit at a sorority social.

"At the time, I thought it was a great idea," she says. "I mean, who has a picture of themselves swinging on a pole?"

She doesn't want to take any chances now that she's job hunting. "It's just really unprofessional," she says.
