For awhile, it was part of the puzzle. We thought. Like Yellowcake.

Yes, yes, yes, the Abington Presbytarian Church Lock-in that took place in Glenside, Pennsylvania. That shit's two years old, dawg.

That's a rosary, alright.

Christ Jesus, does blount have a girlfriend now?

I got mad that you guys didn't ackknowledge my totally rad JPEG dating way upthread. What the fuck? :(

You told us when it was scanned, and then acted like this was proof when it was taken. It would have been rude to say anything.

An amazing thread. The twists, the turns, the conjecture... and then to watch it all come crashing down. High school kids sending one of their own off to Iraq!

Over 600 posts, and the only n00dz was a flaccid b/w penis. See, we do have some integrity around here!

I like the idea of this being a weekly installment.
Roxy, you up for it or is it pass the peas time?

Great thread. I laughed.

mcd (mcd), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 02:56 (eighteen years ago) link

Yeah I found myself thinking I'd like to find a random pic that maybe I know the story behind, post it up and let everyone have at it! It'd be fun.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 03:09 (eighteen years ago) link

We should do one of these a week maybe?

A BOLD QUAHOG (ex machina), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 03:44 (eighteen years ago) link

Hehe if we did them more often we'd all get fired (I ran half an hour late for work today reading this thread at home to catch up)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 03:47 (eighteen years ago) link

totally. this was so fun. what should the name be for the series? there needs to be a way to easily identify it amongst all the other threads. xpost

post: i know. i spent like an hour straight at work hitting refresh and googling pictures of dime bags. NOT GOOD.

i nominate either roxy (obv) or jon (since this is basically a noize thread) to get the pix

j blount (papa la bas), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 04:44 (eighteen years ago) link

Yeah I found myself thinking I'd like to find a random pic that maybe I know the story behind, post it up and let everyone have at it! It'd be fun.

That might take some of the fun out of it. Like when you're trying to play Monkey Island but your friend keeps telling you what to do the minute he sees you're stuck.

Not that I plan on contributing, but it was fun to watch.

chrisco (chrisco), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 04:53 (eighteen years ago) link

why not have people email roxy pics and then she can post one a week? if she doesn't want to do it, someone else can

I just realized I've had a crush on Tuomas's shaved-headed friend ever since he first posted the picture.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 05:13 (eighteen years ago) link

What school is that dorm at anyway?! OMG! It reminds me so much of Rutgers (in an at once funny and extremely depressing way). I'd say it's got to be Northeast -- Penn State, UConn, William Patterson, one of the SUNYs ... am I close?

Thread title: NAKED CITY STORIES

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 07:04 (eighteen years ago) link

having only participated in the begining before leaving the office and just discovered all that happened in the meantime, i have to say it's been the greatest thread ever !
i dunno if we can find the magic again though... maybe we should shut ilx now !

AleXTC (AleXTC), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 12:17 (eighteen years ago) link

threads like these already happen with regularity on 1p3

O RLY ?

YA RLY

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 12:30 (eighteen years ago) link

"1p3"?

I started feeling some regrets about participating in this thread and the morality of it all, it's a different thing if Wayne himself would've put the pics online (thus accepting the fact random strangers may comment upon them), but he doesn't necessarily even know they're there. What would you suppose he'd really think if he'd find this thread? Thankfully there are some nice thoughts here as well.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 12:38 (eighteen years ago) link

this thread hasn't been a pure moment of magic, joy and communion to you ?
i feel sadness and empathy for you jaded ilxor...

AleXTC (AleXTC), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 12:38 (eighteen years ago) link

I mean, Internet is still such a new thing (to me at least) that the sort of ethical guidelines I have with normal everyday interaction feel muddled here. I wouldn't make nasty comments about a random stranger on the street, why is it okay here? I dunno, someone help me out.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 12:40 (eighteen years ago) link

What would you suppose he'd really think if he'd find this thread? Thankfully there are some nice thoughts here as well.

well, first, the friends of Diehl don't even know Wayne so the chances of him finding the thread are very thin. and then, our thoughts about him have evolved a lot along the thread and he comes off as a fairly nice guy compared to the others, no ?

AleXTC (AleXTC), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 12:41 (eighteen years ago) link

I wouldn't make nasty comments about a random stranger on the street, why is it okay here?

ah, maybe that's where you differ from all the people here ?
that said, it's true that it was more harmless (and arguably, more fun) when we had no idea about these people. when they weren't "real".

AleXTC (AleXTC), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 12:43 (eighteen years ago) link

They know - scroll up a little on this thread and you'll find this link to their board where someone created a new topic about this thread:

StanM (StanM), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 12:43 (eighteen years ago) link

I don't think morality works that way that everything's okay if "he doesn't find out" - we should have certain principles whether or not anyone finds out we've broken them. And even if Wayne comes out as a nice guy compared to the others, why is it okay to criticize them, then? What do we know about these people.

(Don't take these comments too seriously, I'm sorta playing the devil's advocate here, but I think in general these are interesting and important issues.)

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 12:45 (eighteen years ago) link

i know they know about the thread, i meant they don't know wayne !
and Tuomas, i didn't say it was ok because they wouldn't find out, but that it was when more fun (and ok) when they weren't "real" people, we knew nothing about them and we were just bitching randomly.
(and besides, sometimes we are just mean, i guess !).
