Goldfrapp's first album reminds me of a few of the movie themes

Would Pink Floyd's "Lucifer Sam" count? They do use a bow on the bass, and that song sounds very spyish to me.

I was just about to chime in with Lucifer Sam (and the Love & Rockets cover is even a little more Bond-like).

"The original theme was written by Monty Norman and performed by John Barry and his orchestra in 1962."

Bobby Hebb - Sunny

Which iirc was the inspiration for the opening 4 bars on the james bond theme.

"romaine" from bill evans/jim hall's undercurrent kinda has this melody.

Hooverphonic's version of the Kinks' This Strange Effect pretty much transforms a totally unrelated song into a cousin of the Bond theme.

Don't think so, since JB theme was 1962 and "Sunny" was 1966. But that is a good example. Also, looks like Bobby Hebb passed away this summer. RIP Bobby

Not derived from "Bad Sign, Good Sign" is the Vamp but vamps tend to be common property. The "James Bond Theme" vamp is, according to Burt Rhodes, "Number 49 in the arranger's handbook."

RIP John Barry.

AT that time they also made a real bond song but it was rejected and ended up on the same album «  tomorrow never lies »

Suede revival reminded of this, lacks a certain swagger but almost fits the bill:

Ah speaking of Suede, I always thought "animal nitrate" had a little bit of Bond to it (OK, only the first part of the guitar solo but still !).
And also "She", thinking of it.
