Hello Glasgow, much as I'd love to come and see you all, I'm not. But I did find this headline while web browsing for work and I wanted to put it somewhere.

Alba demands Playboy pull March magazine

Why?

Resume your usual antics.

Anna (Anna), Friday, 3 March 2006 11:48 (eighteen years ago) link

I would also like to see that film. I wonder if I can get back from Parkhead on time (I'm sure I can). I might see some of you there!

Ended up walking to the GFT from Celtic Park via the fire down near the the Barras - embdy know what building it was? The smoke drifted all the way in to the stadium mid-way through the first half - I presumed it was folk lighting fires to keep warm.
Film was pretty good - kind of a fore-runner to the Truman Show. A lot of the city centre shots were interesting as it hasn't really changed all that much.

JohnFoxxsJuno (JohnFoxxsJuno), Sunday, 5 March 2006 12:21 (eighteen years ago) link

You don't see Harvey Keitel so much anymore.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 5 March 2006 12:21 (eighteen years ago) link

No idea what the fire was, I smelt in on the way up to the match walking up the Gallowgate, and I could see the smoke hanging over the city centre from my seat in the upper east stand.

I forgot to go and see Death Watch, instead I was forced to see the worst band in the world ever. Cockcheese, I think they were called :-) Godawful pub rock with every song run through the Status Quo filter, and a bizarre version of Under My Thumb which appeared to be the singer singing Under My Thumb as the band played Lust for Life. Redeemed by the twenty-minute soft-rock medley played between their sets. Poison! Extreme! Heart! Chicago! REO Speedwagon! Meatloaf! The Scorpions! Marillion! Also redeemed by about 95 pints of Guinness. And the company. We should have a shit-pub-bands FAP. It was top roffleness.

"forced"

Onimo (GerryNemo), Sunday, 5 March 2006 12:41 (eighteen years ago) link

Well, it wasn't my idea. Then people kept buying me beer and making me stay. My arm is so sore from all the twisting it was getting, honest guv.

(My head fucking hurts, by the way)

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 5 March 2006 12:42 (eighteen years ago) link

You arm is sore from all the elbow bending.

I'm surprisingly fresh, I ate half a dodgy curry then passed out but I seem to have had a sleep rather than an alcohol induced coma.

This is the dude from the pub. (sadly no picture of the roadie with his jammies on)

Anyone travelling from Glasgow to that London in the next fortnight, please? If so they could do Sally a favour & help charity as well.

Mooro (Mooro), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 12:42 (eighteen years ago) link

Oh, it would also involve transporting pop star wellies.

Mooro (Mooro), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 12:43 (eighteen years ago) link

a friend is going to london but not 'til the weekend of the 25th

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 12:45 (eighteen years ago) link

Job would require completion before the 20th :(

Thanks you very much for replying, though.

Mooro (Mooro), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 13:17 (eighteen years ago) link

I will be travelling to London but not til 25th, David! I´m waiting for your confirmation details :-)

i need to visit that london, but the chances of doing it any time soon are sadly slim.

If the wellies would fit up your arse, then yes Alba. Thicker rubber than condoms so much safer too.

Mooro (Mooro), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 15:31 (eighteen years ago) link

If the wellies would fit up your arse

can we try this for a laugh anyway?

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 9 March 2006 14:19 (eighteen years ago) link

Can I have some, please? My house is a tip. I could do with some Glaswegian minions houseguests in that case.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 9 March 2006 14:36 (eighteen years ago) link

Anyway, I have a friend and ex-bandmate who is trying Glasgow right now, as we speak! Apparently she has gone to interview a band and have nummy organic beers and indie records at Mono. I am jealous.

we'd like to help, kate, although we're allergic to windolene. can we just sit here and drink milky tea instead?

JohnFoxxsJuno (JohnFoxxsJuno), Monday, 13 March 2006 10:01 (eighteen years ago) link

I was sad to notice that there was no Lauren in Glasgow. However I can confirm that the Fife Glaswegians were back and in fine form on Saturday night. And by 'in fine form' I mean, of course; completely off their collective face.

Saw the Concretes last night, for free, and had some cake. Glasgow is good to me.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 13 March 2006 12:03 (eighteen years ago) link

Concretes were superb. After all the palaver of traipsing through the snow to get there and worrying about getting home (in the end we got a lift, so it was all good) they had to deliver the goods. And they did. Those Swedes know how to warm the soul.

My street (Gardner St) is in the Herald today. People were sledging down it yesterday and it was a slushy nightmare today.
If anyone lives near Clouston St go check out the awesome snowman someone built. It's like 4 massive snowballs piled on top of each other, with trees for arms (well, branches).

stew!, Monday, 13 March 2006 12:22 (eighteen years ago) link

I'm imagining something on the scale of the Stay Puft Man from Ghostbusters, with entire tree trunks for arms. Must get to Clouston St.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 13 March 2006 13:57 (eighteen years ago) link

You're not far off, Ally.
