The credit is spread out over two years. So from what I understand you'll see a monthly phone finance charge of $27 or whatever on your bill for two years, along with a $27 credit which cancels it out.

the audio is bluetooth. it's the aac codec over bluetooth. it's in a bunch of devices. the only "special" bit is the proximity-based pairing, which apple kind of does w/appletv (sending settings over by holding your phone up by it) and a bunch of android devices do via one-off hacks, bluetooth, and nfc

are the best smartphone cases still otterboxes?

I'm still gonna get it (7+) of course cos I'm a sucker, the camera upgrade is probably worth it alone but i really don't feel like I'm making a leap forward from my 6+

idk, almost all the bluetooth shit I have just works now. stuff was janky three or four years ago but now I have a couple random devices, a couple speakers, and my phone/laptop and it's very seldom that something doesn't automatically connect and just start working

xp my friend still likes that otterbox stuff and if by "best" you mean "I can chuck my phone down stairs, w/e" then i'm sure it's good. i'm still compromising between my own klutzy nature and not wanting to carry a large plastic brick with a phone embedded in it

the plus camera does seem really cool but I couldn't talk myself into the larger phone! maybe someday.

Used to be with the 2 year subsidized deals you were throwing away money by not upgrading after two years but yea now it makes less sense. i'm just gonna do it anyway though

eh a lot of us are probably happy with our provider/service, the price is "good enough" and yay shiny new phone that can actually run new apps again

imo it's like car ownership with some pattern of buying new/used, paying off, financing, owning until it dies/trading while there's residual value

some will make sense to you, some will have obvious financial pitfalls, but who even cares

the right answer is to take the bus, obviously

I think it's probably a threat to Apple's sales. I wasn't even aware of how it worked until I went in for the upgrade.

Marcos assuming you switched to the "edge" plan the difference is that once you're done paying off your phone, your monthly bill will drop significantly, so there's no incentive to immediately upgrade again after two years.

some people seem genuinely cheated that the hardware company they are not a direct customer of is not offering a more exciting new phone and i'm like, blame the company you actually contracted to upgrade your phone with and paid $2000 in total cost of ownership over the past two years.

don't get me wrong, i hate apple.

I've been upgrading every year while the resale value is good on the old phone, but this time it's more because I'm desperate to get away from the 6s. The battery life is atrocious (turned out to have a smaller battery than the 6!), the screen is dimmer (wtf) and generally it's a dud. Not massively happy about the 7 either tbh.

Honestly I think a 4s with a better camera would be my perfect phone.

I don't think I could go back to a 4s after having more screen space, but the 5 did feel like a weird stretched 4. The 4/4s size was so good.

btw the screens on the 7 and the iPad Pro make me want to throw my desktop displays at work out the window into a flaming trashheap

i go to a lot of places that accept apple pay but i'm not prepared to fully commit myself to it

The big uh-uh for me with the EarPods is NO VOLUME CONTROL. Fuck going back to taking my phone out of my pocket or having to use SIRI. Apologies if this has already been ranted about.

Airpods should have a voice control function where you have to yell "LOUDER!" "QUIETER!"

Well they assume if you have AirPods you also have the watch I guess, so you adjust the volume on your watch.
