i though the whole idea was that the young guns only went on team NA? i mean if they were allowed to take those guys, i can't imagine canada would have passed over mcdavid.

still usa's roster is hilarious, even without all of those awesome and fun younger dudes you'd think they'd put together a squad worth watching

is it true that they only put ryan kesler o the tema to fuck with crosby?

i thought they only put dubinsky on the team to fuck with crosby, but then they sat him last night

not a great showing for the tuomases, outscored 9-1

Canada has yet to lose in best-on-best action since the preliminary round of the 2010 Olympics, a stretch of more than six years.

lil sketchy there for a while!

Feels great to finally come out on top in the historic Canada-Europe rivalry

lettered and hapful (symsymsym), Friday, 30 September 2016 03:08 (seven years ago) link

feel kinda sad for the guys from a lot of those countries given that's the closest they'll probably get in their careers to winning an international tournament... but man could they have made them look more like the hyper-generic villains in a kids' hockey movie? like they were straight up iceland in mighty ducks 2.

also JONATHAN TOEWS IS MY FAVOURITE INTERNATIONAL ICE HOCKEY BOY STILL!

pretty close! i mean it's been 10 years since the sweden-finland olympic final, americans took canada to overtime in the 2010 final, but that's about it.

thought the europeans played great -- nothing flashy, but more that nick lidstrom 'always in the right position' way -- but they just didn't have the offensive talent (or the four lines of all-stars) to actually beat canada

mookieproof, Friday, 30 September 2016 14:59 (seven years ago) link

by "they" i mean players from slovakia, slovenia, germany, switzerland, norway etc. since there's a good chance that this team NA/team Europe thing will be a one-off. sweden & finland i feel will always have a good chance.

i know it's preseason but i could see NJD being better than NYR this year

I'm feeling like modern hockey is moving toward lacrosse whereas baseball is moving toward trap-era hockey

@DownGoesBrown
Random time-waster: Which NHL team could build the best six-man starting lineup of players who combined to play fewer than 200 games for it?

vancouver is the last undefeated team in the league, just like everyone predicted

I was kind of hoping they would keep up the run of games won without holding a lead.

things are going to get unpleasant in pittsburgh

marc-andre fleury is the fucking best dude/teammate ever, and he's the franchise leader in everything for goalies, and he's just not as good as matt murray and he has a (fully deserved) no-trade clause and there's gonna be an expansion draft. so either he accepts a trade he probably doesn't want to accept or he'll become a villain

ugh
