The other one in that series where the guy that isn't Will-I-Am says "When I was young, I promised myself that I would never throw up" I was all "What has that got to do with the laptop or the films you do?"
(There is another, a set designer with an unlikely name, that one is not too bad)

Beowulf Borritt! who is the son of this guy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabor_Boritt
disappointingly, his other sons have fairly boring names:
Together they have raised three sons: Beowulf Boritt is a set designer in New York City, Jake Boritt is a filmmaker who lives in Harlem, and Daniel Boritt is a biologist specializing in birds who lives in Indianapolis, Indiana.

I don't think I've seen the one where a guy that isn't Will-I-Am talks about throwing up, are you sure that exists?

The Nationwide advert with the young poet guy annoys me intensely and because of one specific thing to do with the poem itself; he does a bit early on where he lambasts "dads dad dance to dad music centuries since it made it in the charts" but then boasts later about him and his mates coming home drunk "singing to Britpop" because that's of their time and is their thing.
The guy's about 20. His dad will be from the Britpop era, that music from 20 years ago.

if you want to know more about the guy from the Nationwide ad, the has an impressively comprehensive wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skint_%26_Demoralised
Skint & Demoralised began when Wakefield teenager Matt Abbott started doing stand-up performance poetry in late 2006. With comical themes such as tales from Seaside towns[1] and tragic nights-out,[2] he was often a hit with a pleasantly surprised audience.[3]

Will-i-isn't is actually the bloke who did Book Of Life

and it is 'grow up' but in a thick mexican accent.

It took me a couple of viewings to work out what he actually said. Was being ironic. Ad is OK otherwise.

― nom de grrrrr (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 30 October 2016 08:12 (seven years ago) link
does Glenister actually do any acting these days aside from adverts where he trades off his lovable bent cop persona?
― soref, Sunday, 30 October 2016 13:17 (seven years ago) link
i think the worst part of the current one is the suggestion that people are moaning about paying high energy bills and need to snap out of it and get on that internet, whereas in real life people moan about the relentless tirade of shitty comparison sites offering you the chance to save £1.40 a year by committing to a 10 year contract with Ulan Batteries Inc

there's a commercial for a new car that brakes by itself. it starts off with a woman singing to herself and then imagining she is a star at a concert while the car stops for her just barely avoiding crashing into another car. then it cuts to a really dumb look on her face. it's terrifying.

People who check their credit scores on a website hardly qualify as a "subculture". The ad makes it sound like they've joined a credit-based version of Fight Club or something.

I only see these in the cinema where they are uniformly unwelcome; the trend these last few years in uk ads seems to be this horrible kind of... slam poetry? dribble that sounds like it's been written by a nine-year-old but is either intoned by standard vo people in tones of great import or yeah a kate tempest type, the nadir (so far) is the oxfam xmas ad I saw today, it's like "shop to stop the hate we hope we shop we breathe the light to shop the mop the blop sip sop" and it fucking goes on like that for like 5 minutes
