No bother.

Right, I'm cream crackered after a week learning how to get millionnaires to give you their cash, so here is the new buffday plan:

6pm, Ichiban. Later, Mono.

I figured Ichiban is one of the few places a number of people can go to eat without needing to book a table and try to work out numbers in advance and all that malarkey. Anyone wanting to do the food bit will have to get there close to six o'clock so we can sit together, I guess.

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 1 April 2006 09:11 (eighteen years ago) link

We'll be there!

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 1 April 2006 09:53 (eighteen years ago) link

Excellent!

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 1 April 2006 10:25 (eighteen years ago) link

(can you get a millionaire to give me some cash please?)

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 1 April 2006 10:34 (eighteen years ago) link

Unfortunately, I'm not sure you have a convincing enough philanthropic case.

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 1 April 2006 12:06 (eighteen years ago) link

How do you know? Couldn't I formulate one?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 1 April 2006 12:10 (eighteen years ago) link

You could certainly try.

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 1 April 2006 14:56 (eighteen years ago) link

We are leaving the house soon. Will you be in a pub first, or will you be in Ichiban? I'm sure we shall find you, somehow. Is anyone else going?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 1 April 2006 14:57 (eighteen years ago) link

Happy birthday, Madchen!!

Lara (Lara), Saturday, 1 April 2006 23:26 (eighteen years ago) link

Happy birthday, Madchen. Good photos, whoever took 'em.

Hey! I'm going to be in Glasgow again on Thursday the 13th of April for one night only. My big bro is getting married on the Saturday and half of Dublin is coming over for the wedding.

Last time I spent a night in Glasgow, I stayed in the Jurys Inn on Jamaica St because it was cheap. It was also horrible, however (I don't like coming down to my breakfast in the morning to find a load of people already milling pints. And I don't like a sign in my room that says 'we do not advise you to leave your handbag or any other valuables in your room'). Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I might stay that I won't fear getting stabbed. Note, I don't want to spend an absolute fortune either.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Monday, 3 April 2006 16:17 (eighteen years ago) link

the jury's inn's inside can't be worse than its outside

RJG (RJG), Monday, 3 April 2006 16:33 (eighteen years ago) link

Are you fapping, accentmonkey?

My parents usually stay at the Premier Travel Inn at Charing Cross. Currently at £51 for the night for a room - if it's just you, that's quite near, but I guess it's reasonable if accentbloke is coming too.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 3 April 2006 16:40 (eighteen years ago) link

I am already booked, for next week

RJG (RJG), Monday, 3 April 2006 16:43 (eighteen years ago) link

near = dear, obviously. I have no idea if it's near or not.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 3 April 2006 16:52 (eighteen years ago) link

The Travel Inn on the corner of George Street and Montrose Street is decent too.

Mädchen (Madchen), Monday, 3 April 2006 17:56 (eighteen years ago) link

My parents stayed in a nice one near the cricket gound many years ago. Do not know name or tariffs, or nearness, but you won't get stabbed.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 09:04 (eighteen years ago) link

Not getting stabbed is my number one priority. Getting Fapped is number two priority. Any suggestions?

Thanks for those hotel names, I'll swing into action immediately.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 09:09 (eighteen years ago) link

Shallow advertising: I am playing a gig in Mono on the 13th, with some other people, if you (or anyone else) would like to come. Thank you.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 12:04 (eighteen years ago) link

I am already booked, for next week

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 12:06 (eighteen years ago) link

I'll be in sunny Surrey's trendy Woking that weekend, I'm afraid.

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 12:09 (eighteen years ago) link

Hey, a gig sounds fun. I'll come to that! Marvellous. Sorted.

RJG, you'll be along, won't you?

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 12:40 (eighteen years ago) link

I am already booked, for next week

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 12:42 (eighteen years ago) link

Now you're double booked.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 13:01 (eighteen years ago) link

I forgot to say, it is FREE. RJG, you'll come?

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 15:42 (eighteen years ago) link

I hope so. I'm excited to meet RJG, who will certainly not let me down by being somewhere else.

Right?

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 15:43 (eighteen years ago) link

He just called to say he is 'in the process of cancelling flights'.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 15:45 (eighteen years ago) link

I am sorry, I am already booked, for next week

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 16:29 (eighteen years ago) link

i will be in Mono watching Ally do his thing, despite my work's stupid "no day off on Good Friday" policy.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 07:51 (eighteen years ago) link

Ugh. Would anyone like to watch the Arsenal game later, in a pub in town?

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 11:53 (eighteen years ago) link

I would, but I will be watching the Celtic game in a stadium in town. Sorry.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 11:54 (eighteen years ago) link

Get your priorities straight, woman. Oh, and no 'dodgy' defeats tonight, OK?

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 12:00 (eighteen years ago) link

Who do you think I am, Jim Jeffries? (see Scottish Football Predictions thread). I hope you enjoy the game.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 12:10 (eighteen years ago) link

I will be watching the arsenal game, in a living room, out of town

sorry dude

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 16:19 (eighteen years ago) link

I am alone in the world.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 16:58 (eighteen years ago) link

But almost finished work, at least. I just found a nice little case of benefit fraud.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 16:59 (eighteen years ago) link

You and Gillanders had best plan your Dublin trip soon - I'm getting impatient. You should start hatching a plan for that tonight.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 17:37 (eighteen years ago) link

Yeah, maybe.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 20:59 (eighteen years ago) link

Lara, why not come to Glasgow next weekend? There's a big Byrne wedding on you could crash. Pretend to be our cousin. I'll vouch for you.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 21:06 (eighteen years ago) link

can i be your american cousin?
i hear the irish do it better. i need proof.

dahlin (dahlin), Thursday, 6 April 2006 10:38 (eighteen years ago) link

Ask Dastoor ;-)

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 6 April 2006 19:00 (eighteen years ago) link

Calling Ally C. I have emailed you to your hotmail email to ask your advice on something. I am temporarily without a mobile phone once more.

Accentmonkey, what time will you be doing things on Thursday? I may now not be going to see Dot to Dot, since I have another friend in another band in another venue that night. Sorry :-(

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 6 April 2006 19:15 (eighteen years ago) link

I get in early on Thursday, so I could meet earlier if that's better. I've got no plans, and frankly the Vicar was giving the Glasgow massive such mad props last night that I am keen to meet as many people as I can.

Where's the gig on that you're going to, Ailsa? Is it possible to do both?

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Friday, 7 April 2006 06:18 (eighteen years ago) link

It's in Miso, which is on West Regent Street, and a very bizarre place for a gig (however the mister's cousin works there, and they serve posho nice cocktails, which is good). I've since found out that friend's band are also playing fairly locally on Saturday, so whether I go and see them on Thursday or Saturday is now entirely dependent on which, if any, day my brother comes down to see them. And whether I can get the day off on Friday (yes, I know it's Good Friday, but apparently that doesn't matter to the powers-that-decide-our-holidays).

Either way, I can be in a pub for after 5, how quickly after 5 depends on how city-centre-ish we are for early-doors drinking.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 7 April 2006 18:20 (eighteen years ago) link

i'm up for some kind of beer on thursday. a surprising and slightly odd set of circumstances and happenings at work mean i've no fucking idea when i'll be able to get away. but i'll be out. somewhere. at some point.

i think.
