Bubba H.O.T.A.P.E (ShariVari), Thursday, 1 December 2016 07:54 (seven years ago) link

Or Hamburg. Somewhere wet and German.

Bubba H.O.T.A.P.E (ShariVari), Thursday, 1 December 2016 07:55 (seven years ago) link

It's HafenCity in Hamburg

The under construction building is the philharmonic

the ilx meme is critical of that line of thought (lion in winter), Thursday, 1 December 2016 08:11 (seven years ago) link

If it hadn't been for the lifebelt and the masts and the Elbphilharmonie, I would have guessed Offenbacher Hafeninsel.

Lion in Winter is correct!

so that looks like the colombian flag (or maybe ecuador). and i guess colombia does have colonial buildings...

i see red and yellow on the flag but i don't see blue (which is not to say it's not there, it's not that big)

that's a limestone stream

never have i been a blue calm sea (collardio gelatinous), Friday, 2 December 2016 17:52 (seven years ago) link

flag suggests somewhere in cantabria or the republic of georgia. the architecture points me in both directions equally, however.

never have i been a blue calm sea (collardio gelatinous), Friday, 2 December 2016 17:55 (seven years ago) link

Goa

Treeship, Saturday, 3 December 2016 05:34 (seven years ago) link

jk, mysore. this is entirely based on the flag, which i think is from the state of karnataka in india.

Treeship, Saturday, 3 December 2016 05:38 (seven years ago) link

Maybe it is my colour settings but that looks more like red and white than red and yellow. The bus would potentially fit more with Poland than India but the architecture would be unusual.

this is clouds' pic btw, but I can tell you that you have gradually got further off course

clouds, Saturday, 3 December 2016 19:13 (seven years ago) link

so its in... eurasia B-)

lag∞n, Saturday, 3 December 2016 19:15 (seven years ago) link

I still think it's in the Americas -- the graffiti doesn't look like something you'd find in India, say.

oh good catch

Treeship, Saturday, 3 December 2016 19:39 (seven years ago) link

the ilx meme is critical of that line of thought (lion in winter), Saturday, 3 December 2016 19:47 (seven years ago) link

no; not in mexico

clouds, Saturday, 3 December 2016 19:49 (seven years ago) link

It's Cuenca, Ecuador. I knew that flag was yellow, blue and red.

is that a stave church? the surrounding architecture and climate look decidedly un-scandinavian.

Treeship, Saturday, 3 December 2016 20:38 (seven years ago) link

it looks like a church in any case, but maybe one influenced by pagodas. the apparent tropical or subtropical climate makes me think southeast asia somewhere. but the sprawling construction makes me think china.

Treeship, Saturday, 3 December 2016 20:40 (seven years ago) link

i like that red building

lag∞n, Saturday, 3 December 2016 21:29 (seven years ago) link

there's a minaret in the background (white, next to the dome). wherever this is has a muslim population. also, the women look like they're wearing saris.

It's called the Chistia Palace and was built by a religious eccentric in the 90s, though with reference to historical Islamic architectural styles.

Dhaka has some interesting architecture. I would have posted the fabulous brutalist parliament building as a clue had nobody got it..
