gondolas suggest venice but idk the name of the structure

Treeship, Monday, 12 December 2016 00:13 (seven years ago) link

My guess: tinted B&W photo of a Beaux-Arts/''City Beautiful'' environment ginned up for one of the great exhibitions/worlds' fairs. Could even be Chicago 1893.

yeah Chicago 1893 had gondolas

Too much open space for Venice.

The Guardian has a variation today - guess the city from a stripped down aerial map highlighting rivers etc. I feel this will be trivial compared the standard of play in this thread.... https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2016/dec/13/water-features-id-city-rivers-harbours-quiz

NWOFHM! Overlord (krakow), Tuesday, 13 December 2016 10:50 (seven years ago) link

i only got 6/11 but tbh the rivers were less of a help than the street plans

(spoiler alert the north american cities and brasilia were p obvious because of this)

harold melvin and the bluetones (jim in vancouver), Tuesday, 13 December 2016 18:26 (seven years ago) link

10/11, but multiple choice was criiiiitical

walk back to the halftime long, billy lynn, billy lynn (Doctor Casino), Tuesday, 13 December 2016 18:54 (seven years ago) link

I got the same for the same reason.

I was thinking that a spin-off thread of speculative city plans that were never built or ambitious development ideas currently in the works but not yet existing, and guessing where they were / are meant to be, would be interesting - but i would probably be terrible at it.

This one is real:
