They are literally fighting for survival.

Yup. Dogs can get pretty badly ripped up in that kind of fight, as opposed to the usually brief and limited fights for dominance dogs engage in on their own initiative. Moreover, owners of fighting dogs generally don't care much for dogs that lose. It's not like they get to retire to a life of ear-scratches, free food and chasing tennis balls. They get unceremoniously dumped somewhere.

lol, likelihood of that Cobain quote being real is about as high as... well, as high as Donald Trump being elected pesident was this time last year :-(

Houston John (Bananaman Begins), Sunday, 12 February 2017 21:24 (seven years ago) link

I realize that everyone my age, +/- five or so years, worships at his altar, but is there really any reason to believe Cobain was some font of wisdom?

he was more famous than other people acting in a manner perceived as counter-cultural, yet attempted to reject fame. which was playing to type, but idk that age range was teens, right

The MS society (Multiple Sclerosis) is asking if everyone could put this as their status for 1 hour. I'm pretty sure I know the ones that will. Think of someone you know or love who has MS, my hope is that in 2017 a cure will be found. Will you please post this message? To honour those who have fought or are fighting MS. Copy & Paste, please don't Share. xxx

Seems grainy, artefacted, watermarked lakeside dwellings are the new grainy sweaty tits of houses. Probably inhabited by minions and people who know what real work feels like.

have you ever priced waterfront property?

a little too mature to be cute (Aimless), Saturday, 25 February 2017 18:40 (seven years ago) link

From Derek Acorah, that one.

Never changed username before (cardamon), Sunday, 26 February 2017 15:12 (seven years ago) link

Dunno that's worth hating on, except on aesthetic grounds. Sure, it is sentimental af, but that sort of sentimentality provides comfort to many people who are grieving, so it gets a pass from me.

a little too mature to be cute (Aimless), Sunday, 26 February 2017 19:22 (seven years ago) link

Derek Acorah is a self-styled medium who uses that sort of sentimentality to provide himself with an income, so it's a little more objectionable in context

soref, Sunday, 26 February 2017 19:32 (seven years ago) link

I'm not familiar with Derek Acorah, but self-styled mediums as a class are predators on the vulnerable and credulous. The Hallmark Greeting Card Co may have made a fortune on sloppy sentiment, but they only wanted to sell you a card and envelope for a couple of bucks, not manipulate your grief by selling you false hopes for thousands of dollars.
