I couldnt watch more than about 15 minutes of this, it felt like a TV version of Twilight or something very teen-girly.

All the clumsy pop culture meta jokes were especially on the nose.

this show kinda has a season one of 'revenge' vibe and is therefore great. cheryl blossom is awesome. cheryl blossom's entrance at jason's memorial was the best tv moment since seven stormed up that hill and snapped troy's arm in 'stranger things'.

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has revealed to EW the show will be going full-blown supernatural in season two:

There definitely will be a big genre element to Season 2. It won’t suddenly just be a coming-of-age drama. There will definitely be a very strong, bold genre statement.
According to Aguirre-Sacas, Sabrina the Teenage Witch potentially joining the show’s universe is still very much on the table, presumably because of this upcoming “bold genre statement,” too:

I feel like I can say two things: One is, we are constantly talking about Sabrina and how to update her character and introduce her to the TV audiences, whether it’s part of the Riverdale universe or it’s alongside the Riverdale universe. Hopefully sooner rather than later, there will be something to do with Sabrina. And the other thing I will say is that in the finale there is an appearance of a character from the Archie mythology that has a darker origin and backstory.

I talk about it all the time because it’s my obsession. (Laughs) I love that character and obviously I also write The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comic book. It’s sort of like, you know how there’s the Arrow-verse and then there’s Supergirl, which kind of exists in a different universe — they still cross over, but they’re in a different universe. i really enjoyed riverdale s1, but season 2 was too long and uneven-seeming so i kinda just abandoned the show until my friend convinced me to watch season 7 because it's heavily bisexual (it is, for a cw show), so then i came up with the unbelievably stupid idea of watching the seasons in reverse. i'm in 5 right now. this show fucking sucks. i love it

there are so many musical numbers and the cast are passable karaoke singers attempting stuff like "shallow" and "it's all coming back to me now" and sooo much musical theater and i have to look away from the screen in embarrassment whenever it happens

still: cheryl blossom is the greatest character in the history of television

she really is

i can’t remember how many seasons i watched til i dipped out, i think after luke perry died i didn’t enjoy it as much idk

i have not watched it since early s3 and don't intend to restart but whenever i come across clips, it always seems like the most bonkers shit ever (and the finale sounds straight up hilarious)
