No thread on this yet that I can find, other than a mention in the Apparat - Walls one. So, what do we reckon ILX? I've only listened twice through, but it's definitely pushing my buttons. With Apparat involved, it's going to sound great and it does, but it seems to have some excellent songs as well. A New Error, Rusty Nails and Seamonkey make for a really strong beginning. Big Burial influence on some of it (Rusty Nails especially - great breathy Apparat vocal on that one too) but it doesn't dominate.
Anyway, early days as yet but I liked it enough after two listens to pre-order it this afternoon.
Thoughts?

well maybe what I feel is that it did all of the mostly good things about Walls first, minus the totally cringe bits, minus the over-polish and felt a lot more coherent. With a bit less range sure, but the range on Walls mostly extends to tracks that are pretty bad.

‘Bad Kingdom’, the first vocal-led track, begins with electro bass-stabs (SBTRKT comes to mind) before morphing into the kind of cloying post-rave pop that riddled the early ’90s (think The Beloved’s ‘Sweet Harmony’) – all leisurely breakbeats, church-y synths, angelic choirs and falsetto vocals.
Haha, he just described like half my favourite tunes from the early 90s. There's something wrong with anyone who doesn't like the combination of leisurely breakbeats and church-y synths.

I was at a wedding so I'm a bit drunk and this might not make any sense tomorrow but I just heard this album and life of pablo by Kanye and it's so noticeable how superior the production is on this album. Wishful thinking but i'd love to have moderat producing a kanye album. This is just sooo good a production and Kanye clearly wants to sound this good in his backtracks but doesn't know how. The mastering is fucking terrible on kanye and I want Moderat to shine in the mainstream because both modeselektor and apparat are so brilliant that they deserve to be known worldwide.
Don't mind me doesn't make sense but I'm drunk and I want to hear a moderat produced mainstream album.
