aldo, i emailed you to your work because i couldn't remember what variant of your name you used for your email. however, it was to offer to buy you beer in glasgow, so i guess it doesn't matter if you didn't get it.

You'll be glad I've got a lovely new temp job at Yell, starting at the end of next week. It's an ok place to work apparently as most of the people are over-educated slackers like myself.

ATP was rad!

Stew (stew s), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 13:32 (seventeen years ago) link

Hurrah for Stew! I need a temp job too, but I can't actually be bothered going any further than Paisley to look for one.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 13:41 (seventeen years ago) link

no-one at my work is an "over-educated slacker"

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 13:45 (seventeen years ago) link

Perhaps "arts graduate" is a better and more accurate term!

Stew (stew s), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 13:52 (seventeen years ago) link

dunno how many, of them, we have, either

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 14:04 (seventeen years ago) link

no-one at my work is RJG. Or Stew, either.

I really really like the look of the Persian but I am leaving tomorrow : (

Cathy (Cathy), Thursday, 1 June 2006 07:16 (seventeen years ago) link

I like the look of Persian and also of Glasgow Green beer place. Let's go out, Glasgow!

Those of you who don't read the Watercooler thread may or may not know that beanz who posts on ILX is coming up to Glasgow today until Sunday. Drinking may occur at some point.

(2pm kick-off, pick a pub, swapsies optional for those not participating in this form of abject torture and mentalism)

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 1 June 2006 11:48 (seventeen years ago) link

i'm trying glasgow in exactly one month, for the first time.

is arriving at glasgow central at 13:49 to get to a c. 15:00 appointment at the gilmorehill centre at glasgow university a viable plan of action, people who know?

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Thursday, 1 June 2006 11:53 (seventeen years ago) link

Westbeer is great. It's absolutley huge. You can sit and watch them making up the beer too! It's never really busy either. The bratwurst is excellent, but the Kaesespaetzle isn't - it's a bit like baby food. Try the Weihenstephaner (wheat beer) if you get the chance.

JohnFoxxsJuno (JohnFoxxsJuno), Thursday, 1 June 2006 11:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Yes, no problem at all. Get out of the station on the right hand side, cross Hope Street, stand at bus stop, get on 44 bus, pay the driver, sit there for a bit, get off 44 bus, voila, you are at Glasgow University. Approx half an hour including hanging out waiting for bus time. Alternatively, get out of station, get a taxi, shell out less than a fiver, bob's yer uncle.

(xpost)

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 1 June 2006 11:58 (seventeen years ago) link

sweet as a nut.

taxi it is!

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Thursday, 1 June 2006 12:09 (seventeen years ago) link

enrique, i sincerely hope you'll be sticking around long enough to join us for pints somewhere?

maybe even westbeer. which sounds mighty!

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 1 June 2006 12:11 (seventeen years ago) link

that would be cool!

i am staying over, on the saturday.

and don't plan on hanging with these guys.

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Thursday, 1 June 2006 12:20 (seventeen years ago) link

well, some of them are ok, especially one ilx0r's dad.

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Thursday, 1 June 2006 12:24 (seventeen years ago) link

That Persian restaurant is absolutely ace.

scotstvo (scotstvo), Thursday, 1 June 2006 12:27 (seventeen years ago) link

I get paid on 29th June - shall we go Persian then? Otherwise, if we want to go to on a Friday or Saturday it needs to be dopo il calcio now.
