With all their remakes how have they never gotten off their guff to do the SD series in English

Nhex, Thursday, 23 March 2017 23:12 (seven years ago) link

been thinking about it and if they do bring over SD3 to the US in English, i'll buy a Switch for that

Nhex, Friday, 24 March 2017 23:53 (seven years ago) link

lag∞n, Sunday, 26 March 2017 20:44 (seven years ago) link

best option is a rpi emulating nintendo ds emulating a bootcamp mac emulating the work-in-progress pc version, or an iphone video in portrait mode showing the results of that, even better

Karl Malone, Sunday, 26 March 2017 21:09 (seven years ago) link

ciderpress, Sunday, 26 March 2017 21:26 (seven years ago) link

lag∞n, Sunday, 26 March 2017 21:30 (seven years ago) link

ciderpress, Sunday, 26 March 2017 21:37 (seven years ago) link

how do i make a video card on my lappy

lag∞n, Sunday, 26 March 2017 21:38 (seven years ago) link

expensively apparently

lag∞n, Sunday, 26 March 2017 22:01 (seven years ago) link

i tried 1.7.3d of this emulator. the game ran at 9fps and everything in the world was like 3 feet under the ground.

they are making quick progress and also making $20k+ of donations, which i am kind of iffy about. this being a brand new game and all and them getting paid to make it free. its a crowdsourced piracy.

should we have a separate thread to discuss crime, I feel like it deserves its own thread

Not the real Tombot (El Tomboto), Sunday, 26 March 2017 23:06 (seven years ago) link

yeah emulating current games is not in my range of emulation interest

ciderpress, Sunday, 26 March 2017 23:24 (seven years ago) link

i love crimes

lag∞n, Monday, 27 March 2017 04:50 (seven years ago) link

this is not released in korea, but definitely going to pick one up when i'm in japan in may

i really don't understand who would choose to play zelda on their pc instead of buying one of these (if you have a pc than can emulate it, i assume you can afford to)

the ghost of tom, choad (thomp), Monday, 27 March 2017 05:19 (seven years ago) link

can anyone really afford to pay $400 for one game? plus the time commitment

lag∞n, Monday, 27 March 2017 05:23 (seven years ago) link

time commitment = do you think the emulated version comes with a 'press here for rupee$' button? I mean, it might, I don't know.

Andrew Farrell, Monday, 27 March 2017 09:32 (seven years ago) link

that is basically what everyone does when they buy a launch system, no? how many have two games worth playing at the outset

Nhex, Monday, 27 March 2017 09:48 (seven years ago) link

the switch is a handheld, emulating it on a PC is pretty far from the same thing

ciderpress, Monday, 27 March 2017 12:55 (seven years ago) link

four weeks pass...

i am on dis ting now - it's fucking great, basically the most gorgeous handheld ever that also happens to connect to your teevee

so hyped for mario kart delivery on friday. its a great little machine.

jamiesummerz, Wednesday, 26 April 2017 08:59 (seven years ago) link

i can't wait to be able to walk into a store and buy one of these

adam, Wednesday, 26 April 2017 11:54 (seven years ago) link

we picked one up last week. Came with Zelda, Shovel Knight, Has Been Heroes, and Snipperclips. So far Zelda is the big draw, the other games are ok. Any other current games out there that I should be looking at?

Moodles, Wednesday, 26 April 2017 14:28 (seven years ago) link

there's not much else yet, next major thing is a port of the last mario kart, and then splatoon 2 after that.

ciderpress, Wednesday, 26 April 2017 14:30 (seven years ago) link

I Am Setsuna is a fun Square rpg throwback. also King Of Fighters 98 for some dual joycon multiplayer times.

jamiesummerz, Wednesday, 26 April 2017 14:40 (seven years ago) link

i just started Shovel Knight on PS4. that game is super tight

Nhex, Wednesday, 26 April 2017 16:01 (seven years ago) link

I saw a kid with one of them standing on a rush hour metro yesterday and just smh

calstars, Wednesday, 26 April 2017 21:21 (seven years ago) link

Kamiko is well worth the five bucks they are asking on eshop, it's a simple Zeldaesque game that can be played through in an hour although I see time attack people already getting that down to less than 10 minutes lol. Enjoyed the developers previous Fairune games on 3DS and this feels like a step up from those.

multiplayer Mario kart 8 on this in the office is heavenly

jamiesummerz, Friday, 28 April 2017 14:07 (seven years ago) link

Puyo Puyo is one hell of a thing once you get the basic gist of it.

abcfsk, Monday, 1 May 2017 12:15 (seven years ago) link

i've been getting sonned hardcore on online puyo puyo, it's really shredded my sense of self-worth

gnaw on my meat oreo (bizarro gazzara), Wednesday, 3 May 2017 12:10 (seven years ago) link

i'm really loving this machine btw - it feels like it's making good on all the unrealised potential of the wii u, i just wish it didn't share the wii u's anaemic release schedule

gnaw on my meat oreo (bizarro gazzara), Wednesday, 3 May 2017 12:13 (seven years ago) link

two months after release, I walked into a gamestop to ask if they had a switch and i got a wan smile and a "check back every day!"

Chocolate-covered gummy bears? Not ruling those lil' guys out. (ulysses), Wednesday, 3 May 2017 13:30 (seven years ago) link

my fav thing about the Switch as a platform is the OS is snappy as fuck. It wakes from sleep almost instantly, drops into and out of the home menu instantly, feels functional and un-frustrating to pick up and use. The Wii U basically wasn't that. idk what the PS4 or Xbone experience are like in this respect but the PS3 wasn't much better than the Wii U. (Also I've like totally lost track of "console generations" now and I hope they are over)

softie (silby), Wednesday, 3 May 2017 18:26 (seven years ago) link

if console generations are over, then the forced-upgrade cycle of the PC master race will crush us all

Nhex, Wednesday, 3 May 2017 19:42 (seven years ago) link

all the current consoles are basically pcs inside anyway

gnaw on my meat oreo (bizarro gazzara), Wednesday, 3 May 2017 19:45 (seven years ago) link

Man oh man I did not like Kamiko. If it had been a Steam game I would have asked for a refund by about 30mins in. I ended up getting to the end - waiting for a single interesting enemy, or clever puzzle and found nothing in the 62mins it took me to complete. I don't see me even attempting to play the other two characters, because I just didn't find anything interesting about it, which is a shame because I loved HLD and loved the idea of this being a simple HLD-lite, but it feels like a polished version of something you would create in a Unity 2D tutorial. Still, it was only £4.50 I guess.

I loved Shovel Knight though - I've been avoiding it on the assumption it was yet another 8/16-bit style indie game that would probably not play nicely (I got burned by Axiom Verge), but it's fantastic. Don't see myself doing the Plague Of Shadows unless I get stuck for something to play, but enjoyed the original game and Spectre of Torment very much. Probably spend about 13 hours, which feels a reasonable amount for £20.

I still haven't quite got into I am Setsuna - about 3 hours in - but I'm enjoying it so far. Now that Mario Kart is out and my wife is interested in the Switch I don't know when I'll get back to it though.

CraigG, Friday, 5 May 2017 10:26 (six years ago) link

shovel knight is amazing but it's really casting an ugly light on just how badly my 2d sidescrolling skills have atrophied

gnaw on my meat oreo (bizarro gazzara), Friday, 5 May 2017 10:28 (six years ago) link

Yeah, the stats when it's like "You have died this many times", and I know 90% of those deaths would not have befallen 13yr old me.

CraigG, Friday, 5 May 2017 10:38 (six years ago) link

I got one of these

Zelda is definitely a game
