so hyped for mario kart delivery on friday. its a great little machine.

i can't wait to be able to walk into a store and buy one of these

we picked one up last week. Came with Zelda, Shovel Knight, Has Been Heroes, and Snipperclips. So far Zelda is the big draw, the other games are ok. Any other current games out there that I should be looking at?

there's not much else yet, next major thing is a port of the last mario kart, and then splatoon 2 after that.

I Am Setsuna is a fun Square rpg throwback. also King Of Fighters 98 for some dual joycon multiplayer times.

i just started Shovel Knight on PS4. that game is super tight

Kamiko is well worth the five bucks they are asking on eshop, it's a simple Zeldaesque game that can be played through in an hour although I see time attack people already getting that down to less than 10 minutes lol. Enjoyed the developers previous Fairune games on 3DS and this feels like a step up from those.

multiplayer Mario kart 8 on this in the office is heavenly

Puyo Puyo is one hell of a thing once you get the basic gist of it.

i've been getting sonned hardcore on online puyo puyo, it's really shredded my sense of self-worth

i'm really loving this machine btw - it feels like it's making good on all the unrealised potential of the wii u, i just wish it didn't share the wii u's anaemic release schedule

two months after release, I walked into a gamestop to ask if they had a switch and i got a wan smile and a "check back every day!"

my fav thing about the Switch as a platform is the OS is snappy as fuck. It wakes from sleep almost instantly, drops into and out of the home menu instantly, feels functional and un-frustrating to pick up and use. The Wii U basically wasn't that. idk what the PS4 or Xbone experience are like in this respect but the PS3 wasn't much better than the Wii U. (Also I've like totally lost track of "console generations" now and I hope they are over)

if console generations are over, then the forced-upgrade cycle of the PC master race will crush us all

all the current consoles are basically pcs inside anyway

Man oh man I did not like Kamiko. If it had been a Steam game I would have asked for a refund by about 30mins in. I ended up getting to the end - waiting for a single interesting enemy, or clever puzzle and found nothing in the 62mins it took me to complete. I don't see me even attempting to play the other two characters, because I just didn't find anything interesting about it, which is a shame because I loved HLD and loved the idea of this being a simple HLD-lite, but it feels like a polished version of something you would create in a Unity 2D tutorial. Still, it was only £4.50 I guess.

I loved Shovel Knight though - I've been avoiding it on the assumption it was yet another 8/16-bit style indie game that would probably not play nicely (I got burned by Axiom Verge), but it's fantastic. Don't see myself doing the Plague Of Shadows unless I get stuck for something to play, but enjoyed the original game and Spectre of Torment very much. Probably spend about 13 hours, which feels a reasonable amount for £20.

I still haven't quite got into I am Setsuna - about 3 hours in - but I'm enjoying it so far. Now that Mario Kart is out and my wife is interested in the Switch I don't know when I'll get back to it though.

shovel knight is amazing but it's really casting an ugly light on just how badly my 2d sidescrolling skills have atrophied

arms is a lot of fun

arms is a fuckin BLAST and it really keeps surprising me with its level of depth and cool design choices as i get deeper into it and unlock stuff

like ultimately it's very simple and RPSish as far as fighting game go...at first

and then you're making all these loadout decisions and it honestly feels like the customizable aspects of it are limitless - oh, and grand prix gets insanely hard

A fighting game where I don't have to do shit like a quarter circle forward or whatever is something I've wanted for a while bc I knew I would never be able to do a hadoken consistently

I beat Grand Prix level 3 with Ribbon girl today, I think every match but 1 took me multiple tries, maybe like 10 for the final round. Even the mini games are there to teach you something about how to fight, it feels like

How is Mario Kart single player?

it's what you would expect, with all drivers, 48 tracks and speeds (including mirror mode & new 200cc) unlocked. only thing you unlock is kart parts. time trials with downloadable ghosts, also battle mode but who plays that single player?

how do I get one and what accessories should I buy immediately

screen protector and sd card are the accessories i bought immediately. will probably get a pro controller at some point too, the joycon grip thing is more comfortable than i expected but still a bit narrow for my giant hands

pro controller for sure - the wii u one was secretly the best controller of the last gen and this one is aces too

i dont even use the grip - joy cons are great and detached is the most relaxed way to use the system

arms is actually good? i've been sufficiently devoid of things that i started on blaster master fn zero
