Ryan and Johnson both had stretches where they struck out 10+ in 10 out of 11 starts. (Koufax didn't.) Johnson's 2001 log is pretty amazing (372 for the year, highest single-season K/9 ever). His 35 starts break down like this:

It sounds like Boston Red Sox color commentator Jerry Remy learned nothing from the Mike Schmidt controversy that dominated baseball news Tuesday. Because about 12 hours after the Phillies legend created headlines for his criticism of Odubel Herrera not speaking English, Remy was on the air for NESN saying non-English speaking players shouldn’t be allowed to use translators on the field.

“Learn baseball language,” Remy said.

This came in a discussion about New York Yankees starter Masahiro Tanaka, whose translator came to a visit on the pitcher’s mound during Tuesday night’s 5-4 loss to the Red Sox. Remy, who is 64 and played 10 seasons in the big leagues, said such a thing shouldn’t be legal.

i think he's pretty good, but yeah he has his phrases -- eg 'losing it' for hitting a homer -- and he'll drive them into the ground

Chris Sale comes off like a big dumb kid in the ESPN magazine feature I read waiting to get a hair cut a couple days ago. Funny thing is that there was like a couple people asked were they surprised that he cut up that jersey and pretty much all of them said 'no, not at all.' Heh.

At least by that article, what Eck did/said seems pretty mild compared to some stuff I have seen other home announcers say.
