get more black

maybe instead of pure board control, you grab someone who can heal or send ppl airbone as the third to mitigate sustained Face Death dmg

I expect G4mora to be nerfed within a week

I thought I had the perfect combo with G4mora/Ant Man because I didn't want Thano5 to murder my 0/1/0 G4mora in 2 turns but trap tiles don't count as special tiles. BOOOOOOOOOO

OTOH her instakill is fantastic if you can get it to go off, as evidenced by the loaner node in The Hunt; can't wait for her PVP

oh also as an aside, RNG gifted me enough Hulkbuster covers to get him to 5/5/3, followed shortly by a 14th cover picked up from event progression, so by the end of the week I will have a champed Hulkbuster and 12 champed 4*s overall (XFW, IW, Flaptain, C4ge, Peggy, Spider Woman, Mr F, Thoress, Elektra, Quake, soon Hulkbuster)

I also have Bl4de covered so he will be my next champ after HB, who I prioritized so I wouldn't waste the 14th cover. I'm one cover away from Wasp (5/3/4), 4Cyke (5/2/5), Fury (4/4/4), Gwenpool (5/4/3) and Ironheart (4/3/5).

Has the ISO flow changed since I stopped playing?

Nope! Although they did just change PVE progression rewards to give you a ludicrous amount of command points

I think maybe I should chill on opening tokens for a little bit, at least until I get the 1.3M ISO I need to champ the characters I have in my queue

very tempted to dump my maxed 2*s but that wouldn't get me nearly close enough to champ everyone (would get me Wasp though, only need 90K to finish her)

I have almost 400 cp now, soooo hard to wait. But I want the guardians 4 stars to be drawable before I go. I've champed iceman and now am working on hulkbuster (l250ish now). Then I dunno. Either one of the other two I already have maxed covered (Electra and ghost rider) or by then maybe I'll have one of the new ones ready to max.

Too bad about the ISO, that's probably the biggest obstacle for me playing again. Oh well, I beat the Crash with my 130 3/5/5 Drax yesterday, so I'll just keep dipping into DDQ every once in a while.

What is Plan C and do I want to grind for that sweet 200 ISO progression?

270d Hulkbuster today, champ tomorrow, then I gotta decide. Only need two covers to champ Peggy, have +400 CP but maybe I should wait for her as a bonus hero rather than dumping 240cp directly.

this damn game has been keeping my three star widow at 5/0/5 forever and finally gave me the third cover! But now I've gotta get all those command points to level the middle one up so I can champ this sucker and use the handful of useless covers it was giving

I don't care all that much about a 5-* Doc Ock in general but this green ability is 100% bonkers:

The last power costs 13 Green AP and is called Cunning Scheme. Doctor Octopus generously creates a nuclear reactor to power the city, but secretly rigs it to blow. Place a 10-turn Nuclear Reactor Countdown tile on the board that deals damage to each enemy.

The power then becomes Phase 2 and costs eight Green AP. Doctor Octopus’s generator powers hospitals. Upgrade the Nuclear Reactor tile to give a burst of health to each friendly character each turn. This power also has a Passive ability that if the reactor is matched it gains 11 Green AP. If it’s destroyed, this power becomes Cunning Scheme. After using the eight Green AP this power then becomes Phase 3.

Now when this power becomes Phase 3, it costs six Green AP. This power upgrades the Nuclear Reactor tile so that it deals damage to each enemy each turn. There is a Passive that if the Reactor is matched it gains 14 Green AP and if it’s destroyed, this power becomes Cunning Scheme again. If the player is able to spend the six Green AP, this power becomes Final Phase.

Final Phase is a Passive! All his work has led Doctor Octopus to this perfect moment. If Doc Ock’s Nuclear Reactor is matched away when its timer reaches “1,” he wins the battle! If Doc Ock’s Nuclear Reactor is matched at another time, gain 18 Green AP. If it’s destroyed, this power becomes Cunning Scheme.

So basically:

- 10 turn countdown that costs 13 green AP that does dmg every turn
- if you can get and spend 8 green AP before it goes off, it will start healing your team
- if you can get and spend 6 green AP before it goes off, it will do damage again
- if you can get and spend 6 green AP before it goes off, it goes into a passive mode where, if you can match it when it hits 1, you automatically win

seems kinda unlikely the final ability will ever get used... 10 turns minimum plus however many turns it takes to accumulate 33 green = almost certainly can get the job done quicker just burning down hp. maybe it's more relevant at 5* bracket where chars have tons of hp?

maybe in that wonky "everyone is maxed" season they have going right now

or pair him with coulson and someone who generates green (and has v low cost skills to fire to trigger coulson)

Pair him with Flaptain and GSBW
Chase purple so GSBW can flood the board with green
Put out his countdown at 27 green AP
Cycle to phase three
Chase purple for GSBW and blue so Flaptain can decrement the countdown drop his countdown
Cycle to phase 4 once you have enough purple to build a match on the tile
Chase blue until the countdown hits 1
Deceptive Tactics wins the match

Hopefully at some point you've thrown out Flaptain's yellow so most of the incoming damage is neutered aside from unavoidable nukes

I had a bunch of Nova covers die because I couldn't use them; I would have loved to have given them to someone else

also would love to not waste the Agent Coulson cover I got when I broke down and opened a legendary token last night

btw, boosted C4ge vs Sentry is hilarious

if C4ge is out in front (I'm running him with 2* Human Torch and and an underleveled C4ptain Marvel, so he is covering something like 5 colors + TU) when Sentry casts Sacrifice, C4ge immediately eats the strike tile and replaces it with a shield, leaving the AI with a net gain of 1 pt of match dmg and a bunch of points of self-injury.

I don't think I've used a single health pack yet in my PvE crawl, mostly because none of the characters are capable of AoE-ing the squishier members of my team and my boosted C4ge floods the boards with shields faster than damage can come in on him; it's great #TeamC4ge

oh I just champed Bl4de yesterday

Bl4de + C4ge = passive fun times, your third almost doesn't matter (I've been having fun with Wasp using her yellow to flip and buff their tiles; it's great because you usually have more shields than strikes initially just because of how Bl4de and C4ge work, so 5 yellow after C4ge blankets the board and suddenly all of your match dmg is 4K a pop, plus usually by that point Bl4de is bloodlusting like silly)

I have to say, I adore a lot of the newer 4* characters. M4rvel, Wasp, Medusa, Coulson, Bl4de, C4ge, C&D... all of them rule in one way or another and help blunt Iceman & Peggy (the passives in particular make Peggy a lot less scary than she had been)

I crave Medusa but I'm still three covers away I think. Glad she's still drawable.

Ugh I'm invested in playing again because like a genius I opened the 11 legendaries that I had, and of course now I'm out of roster spots. After rostering Panth5r and C&D, my queue has 4* R&G, 5* Hawkeye, and 4* Fist, PLUS 2* Daken whom I'd sold since last farming him. I'm at 945 HP, so I'm on the hook to get another 2155 HP (or really 1155, since I apparently still have a single-cover dupe Phoenix that's just taking up space).

I've also got Bl4de fully covered, but only at 70. DJP, whom do you like to pair him with? 3* Cyc? I can't remember who else makes red tiles anymore.

I'm still rocking Wasp + St4lord, is that still viable? It seems like it is in PVE.

st4rlord is my staple 4* this past month

I don't actually worry too much about pairing Bl4de with a red generator. Basically, I hope for red on the board but if I don't get it, I just use his green AOE and hope for side healing. If the board does have a bunch of red on it, he goes nuts pretty quickly. I like pairing him with C4ge because he is a protest monster and then either Wasp to flip the strikes/protects so we have a better ratio (C4ge almost always has more shields out than Bl4de has strikes) or Carol to buff like silly off of her black. I've also used Medusa as a third but she is way undercovered and underleveled for me.

I'm not up to Bl4de yet and am still leveling BLad3. Any power recommendations? It's only been giving me purple/green and I have the suspicion the game has cursed me in the "only give you two colors, forever" way again

you want a 3/5/5 build most of the time anyway

For Blad3, I actually disagree with DJP and prefer 5/3/5 for most fights. His black is pretty cheap, does decent direct damage, AND steals AP. His purple can do awesome damage, but by the time you can get it out, with or without the max number of strikes on the board, the game might already be over, AND the attack tiles can be hard to keep on the board. I'll switch to 3/5/5 if I expect the match to be a long one, but since I've got a decent 4* roster, I can usually find someone else to replace him..

ha my comment was driven by me using Blad3 mostly in wave contexts so I can maximize use of his attack tiles

I was really under rating attack tile generation and the powers that use them to attack (daken) or create even stronger attacks (blade). ran those two, plus the wolvie that gives you strike tiles finally, and woooow

Anything that gives you free passive damage is automatically good. It's a big reason why everyone loves both iterations of Dr Strange and Thanos (Thano5 in particular is a cruel, cruel character; I have been using him on low-level PVE nodes to clear them in 1-2 matches)

geeez, i misread the luke cage 4 yellow ability and thought it was just X damage + 3 fortified tiles. didn't realize it was x damage PER fortified tile (calc'ed after fortifying)!

i've got him at 5/4/1 right now which... isn't the best honestly but i'm pouring my iso into him in the hope that i can get a few more red covers

I somehow stumbled across a 14th Wasp cover so I champed her (sorry Gwenpool). Been getting a bunch of 4* Gamora covers which is a-ok by me.

I just champed gwenpool. Cloak and dagger and riri are maxed and jessica drew and mordo are both at 12 covers. Not sure I'm super enthusiastic about any of them. Bl4de continues to be my most used char just bc the strike tiles and passive red are such great quick dmg dealers. I have coulson c4rol and medusa all champed but they all feel more like support chars. Gwenpool s green is huge tho so maybe I can swap her into that dps slot

Coulson, Medusa and C4rol are all support characters but the level of support they provide is ludicrously high. Put Medusa up with or against a special tile spammer (hi dere Carnage) and you can make yourself almost invulnerable. Pair Coulson with someone with cheap powers and you will find yourself drowning in AP. C4rol can accelerate herself for decent damage and tile-buffing but put her with anyone who fires quick cooldowns (Coulson, Wasp, Blad3, Human Torch, etc) and anyone with special tiles (Wasp, Bl4d3, C4g3, non-XForce Wolverine, Ant Man, X23, R&G, etc etc etc) and you will find that you are doing 5K in match damage.

Don't sleep on support characters, they can radically change how you play the game.

no for sure i agree 100% i just like to pair support chars with someone who can put out more heavy dps - i find the variety makes for more consistency since a lot of the support often depends on things going right and if they don't it can turn into a disaster. so it means i end up overusing bl4de and i could use other similar types to match w/ my [agreed very powerful] support chars.

I'm still doing the three-star grind before the game regularly gives me a lot of four stars. Dr. Strange very appealing at the minute

Dr Strange rules really hard

finding the 4* grind incredibly slow myself, but i've got 5 or 6 champed at this point. feel like those 5*s will never happen, though

I just got my last needed Gwenpool cover, gotta decide if she's worth champing. I'm currently taking my 5-4-3 Peggy to 250 (she's my 4 star bonus hero so I'll get the last cover soonish).

Apparently her green hits like a truck when she's champed, similar to Peggy.
