really into this ellen arkbro release "for organ and brass," great melodic drones of ... organ and brass: https://open.spotify.com/album/4Hljg3AmimZRK9dnyhVPTJ (sorry for the spotify link but it doesn't appear to be on bandcamp or elsewhere)

na (NA), Thursday, 25 May 2017 15:49 (six years ago) link

i love dense clouds of organ and/or brass so this is like catnip for me

Philly noise merchants Tidal Archive do a 24-hour ambient drone performance once a year and they are at it right now! Check it out...

Listened to the Arkbro this morning and enjoyed it. I saved it on Spotify and will keep it in mind when I'm buying music.

Maybe on the melodic end for this thread but I like this : https://missingorgans.bandcamp.com/album/old-speakers
Nice cover too

I really like this Mana album on Hyperdub. Synth album, very little percussion, but it has a lot of motion. I've found myself listening to it a lot.

The Iglooghost record is a monument to detail and production effort. So much happening all at once and from bar to bar, but somehow it's all clear in the mix and sounds stream-of-conscious in the end.

whoa

wrong thread, that shit's totes attention deficit ;)

imago, Tuesday, 3 October 2017 09:00 (six years ago) link

kind of loses me by being melodically unengaging, but bear in mind i am ruined in this regard and if you're just into cool beats then this has 'em

imago, Tuesday, 3 October 2017 09:12 (six years ago) link

in fact this has a very similar should-like-but-don't effect on me as flying lotus, whose label this is seemingly on

imago, Tuesday, 3 October 2017 09:13 (six years ago) link

Yeah there are melodies everywhere but not a lot to hang on to. I think it's literally ADD music in some ways (although less so than some of his other stuff).

i really like this record!
a mash up of sorts of lots of stuff i've been enjoying recently

Wolf Shield - Supercell. This recent release is a little more interesting than the usual electronic/pop stuff coming out, to my ears at least.

some things i enjoyed over the weekend - sorry that they don't all fit here

IT IT - formal odors https://ititpgh.bandcamp.com/album/formal-odors
'this heat' kinda experimental art pop

infinite bisous - w/love https://infinitebisous.bandcamp.com/album/w-love
very relaxing ambient pop

golden teacher - sauchiehall withdrawal youtube.com/watch?v=GFpnkgd6iok
this track is giving me 'liquid liquid' vibes

there's a new thread that I pledged to merge my own concern with but it's taken off in a very bobbins-y direction that i really want little to do with

will check this out though!

Rolling Experimental Electronic & Misfit Club Music 2018

the lack of a comma between 'experimental' and 'electronic' is pissing me off and making me think i need to start something time-travelly, yeah. i don't even think orange milk would be so welcome there

listening to slow place like home! intriguing so far...

Do we have a rolling thread for retro, completely un-experimental, electronic music? Y'know: the sort of thing released by Polytechnic Youth, Castles In Space, A Year In The Country and the like.

Jeff W, Sunday, 28 January 2018 21:33 (six years ago) link

some great news!
fire toolz vs nmesh :D
https://www.tinymixtapes.com/news/fire-toolz-release-interbeing-remix-collection-suite-309-shares-nmeshs-absolute-cut-throat-remi

might just start a thread for time travel, noiselectronic, experimental, bleep bloops, vaporwave, orange milk 2k18?

nxd, Tuesday, 30 January 2018 15:00 (six years ago) link

it would need to be distinct enough from the 'experimental electronic' thread already in play but yes!

imago, Tuesday, 30 January 2018 15:06 (six years ago) link

what is orange milk?

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Tuesday, 30 January 2018 15:08 (six years ago) link

label responsible for death's dynamic shroud, giant claw, loads of other exciting US electronica. is elysia crampton on them?

imago, Tuesday, 30 January 2018 15:09 (six years ago) link

ah! thank you

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Tuesday, 30 January 2018 15:10 (six years ago) link

crampton isn't but they're still great

imago, Tuesday, 30 January 2018 15:10 (six years ago) link

xps good shout i'll remove the electronic bit

nxd, Tuesday, 30 January 2018 15:13 (six years ago) link

Hmmm yeah, I guess I think of Orange Milk as being a little less functional, more cartoon-y, maximal, and heavier on internet detritus collage than what I'm into personally. Cool that they seem to have really found an audience though.

change display name (Jordan), Tuesday, 30 January 2018 16:28 (six years ago) link

sounds like a description of haord music!

nxd, Tuesday, 30 January 2018 16:28 (six years ago) link

what makes Orange Milk different from the other dozen labels that release giant claw, death dynamic shroud.wmv etc?

brimstead, Tuesday, 30 January 2018 16:32 (six years ago) link

not too much i guess, i didn't put too much thought into the thread name but shudda outlined genres rather than labels in hindsight
