I'd draw the line at clowns. Timewasters, well...

I'll have a look at Gumtree, yes.

two weeks pass...

I did put an ad on Gumtree, and got what sounded like a spot-on one, who said "Send me some tracks, and we'll do a rehearsal room session" So I did, and he promptly never replied again, not even "No Thanks".

Sounds like one of those Timewasters..

Then again, he didn't have the session then go yeah yeah and then fail to turn up and that.

In any case, any more suggestions/ideas, I'm all ears.

one jam space i used to frequent had a "leave your ego at the door" sign

i've had luck with spreading the word among friends

craigslist is hit or miss. you have to go through a few til you find the right person

Where do you rehearse Mark? Are your aims recording or gigging or what?

I am 55 and can pass for J.Marr on a good day. Might be a stretch to commit to anything out of London but I'd be interested to hear your stuff.

Ah, you'd be a shoe-in absolutely.

I'd also be interested in hearing our stuff - unfortunately our Guitarist quit without us knowing our first gig (with *this* lineup) would be our last.

We have one song recorded, it's not me singing but I don't sound that different to their orig dude: https://www.bandmix.co.uk/thesubtitles/0

Hmm, that didn't work.

OK, here: https://www.bandmix.co.uk/thesubtitles/

"Walk Away"

Ignore the other one, I refused to sing it and the band said it's OK, they hate it as well.

Hereabouts most such things are handled by Craigslist, but I have had mixed results.

I want to put up a sign on our rehearsal space that says "leave your emu at the door."

one month passes...

We might have one!

Will report back in two weeks.

one year passes...

two weeks! ahem...

The new guitarist was a "techie" type - into Muse, MBV and so on.

We tried him for a couple of rehearsals, we all liked him as a person but ...

Anyway, the Bass guy and the drummer quit, so that was the end of that.

Mark G, Friday, 1 February 2019 12:10 (five years ago) link

Sorry to hear that, Mark =(

Maybe time to invest an RC-300 and a drum machine?

I'm down to jam, but I'm pretty sure we're not even close.

Totally different head. Totally. (Austin), Monday, 4 February 2019 18:11 (five years ago) link
