the best tidbit!

Will Nike be getting rid of the sleeves that so many NBA teams have worn in recent years?

It's too soon to say for sure, but a report from six months ago indicated that the sleeves were probably on their way out.

http://www.uni-watch.com/2017/01/17/report-nike-not-planning-to-make-sleeved-nba-jerseys/

down that brown path (Spottie), Wednesday, 19 July 2017 17:25 (six years ago) link

also a good thing:

Will the jerseys sold at retail include the ad patches?

Jersey sold at most retail outlets will not include them. But teams will have the option to include the ad patches on jerseys sold at their arenas. It's not yet clear how many teams will go that route.

down that brown path (Spottie), Wednesday, 19 July 2017 17:27 (six years ago) link

maybe I'm a scab but I'll take the lil ad patches over sleeves

Clay, Wednesday, 19 July 2017 17:27 (six years ago) link

yeah same but theyre both gone it sounds like!

hipsters in 2040 will be rocking the fuck out of thrift store sleeved jerseys

haha, reminds me of this:

Fans who burn jerseys are stupidly short-sighted. Your kids are going to want wear those jerseys to a summer music festival someday

IDK what you guys got against sleeves. They are one of my favorite inventions ever.

Jeff, Wednesday, 19 July 2017 21:45 (six years ago) link

Sleeves are good for mortals, but they are an abomination in the NBA

the side details are so bad. clashes so so much with the front

yes the front is very retro cleanliness wave and the side panels are like "remember when every NBA uniform was fucking insane in the 90s"

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 1 August 2017 17:43 (six years ago) link

also why are the numbers so crunched by the text on the front. it's an interesting design executed so poorly.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 1 August 2017 17:44 (six years ago) link

ya im intrigued by the name encircling the numbers idea but the execution is dum

lag∞n, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 17:51 (six years ago) link

it def had potential but there are so many issues

Spottie, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 17:55 (six years ago) link

the slashed line side striping or whatever u call it might be cool if it were consistent instead of all wavy and interrupted by logos, also if it were echoed in the piping

lag∞n, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 17:56 (six years ago) link

its like a handful of could-be-kinda-cool elements just thrown together

Spottie, Tuesday, 1 August 2017 17:58 (six years ago) link

yup

Spottie, Wednesday, 2 August 2017 04:47 (six years ago) link

as far as I know the teams still have control of the design of the jerseys

Spottie, Wednesday, 2 August 2017 04:48 (six years ago) link

man the font in that fanmade uni was deeply troubling for a minute

#mambathick (Clay), Wednesday, 2 August 2017 04:49 (six years ago) link

i think Nike made the swoosh too big in its place. doesnt look right on these jerseys

not a big fan of the sharp and angular C on the word marks. space between the A and V is too tight as well. nice they didnt go too overboard w the detailing/piping tho.

Spottie, Monday, 7 August 2017 19:00 (six years ago) link

why do teams change colors so mucchhhhhh

seven mambas (m bison), Monday, 7 August 2017 19:02 (six years ago) link

colors are the same. no? anyway the answer is and will always be, money.

Spottie, Monday, 7 August 2017 19:10 (six years ago) link

nah, they ditched the navy for black. after years of just burgundy and gold. after years of black and teal. after years of blue and orange.

seven mambas (m bison), Monday, 7 August 2017 19:16 (six years ago) link

oh yeah no blue ur right. hm wonder if theyll use it for an alt version.
