Severely tempted to vote Ashdown, who has not redeeming qualities I can think of.

that last QT appearance by Charles when he was pissed seems quite sad in retrospect, and Hislop's sneery responses quite fucking cold considering the poor bugger obv had a very serious drink problem. I know pissed-up politician is probably fair game, but there was something really off about that.
Voted Clegg for his piece-de-resistance - the ConDem T4 program.

Menzies Colquhoun would be a good name for a Lib Dem leader of the future.

liked it when vince cable made a total arse of himself talking to undercover telegraph journos saying he could topple the coalition gov, clearly only saying such bluster because they were young women and he was trying to look cool
― -_- (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 28 June 2017 19:28 (six years ago) link
Irony is that this would probably be the right time for someone like Cable to be leading the LibDems if he hadn't fatally undermined virtually all his previous economic arguments during the coalition.
How he positions himself wrt Corbyn will be interesting.

it's tricky because there is something in clegg's politics which I really object to (& seem to fit with his U turns/broken promises) but the way he has been scapegoated and generally treated like shit is a good illustration of how awful & negative british political culture is with that all-too-stable mixture of spite & disenfranchisement

hate the "hold my beer" meme but...
“Gender isn’t an issue any more, rightly so,” he adds. “Thanks to Obama, race isn’t really an issue any more – at least, we hope not. And age shouldn’t be, either. It should be who you are and what you have to say.”
