I loved Perks of Being a Wallflower, although still baffled that those kids wouldn't know who was singing "'Heroes.'"

Yeah, I wrote about that. It's so egregious, I've come to find it more funny than annoying, and them not knowing is used really well as a dramatic device, if you can buy it. And again, I could maybe accept that they don't know "Heroes"--highly unlikely, but possible. Not knowing "Heroes" while you are swapping tapes with the Shaggs and Nick Drake on there, that I find literally impossible.

I feel like LEGO Batman might have been a better choice if they had to have a token cartoon that makes people cry.The LEGO Movie itself is probably better than a few of these choices though.
― El Tomboto, Sunday, 18 June 2017 00:25 (six years ago) link
nah the token "cartoon that made people cry" was Up in 2009. just that first sequence. I think after that Pixar thought they had to do it with every movie. I never saw Toy Story 3 bc the reactions were just ridiculous - "oh my god, i couldn't stop crying, it was so sad and wistful and melancholic!" God, sounds horrible.

i wonder how many other Yang films the typical Yi Yi voter has seen -- you know, the ones you have to see twice to comprehend what's going on

If by lightheaded you mean giddy, exhilarated, reveling in the pleasure that movies can give you if you enjoy either life or movies? Sure. Yeah.
