I always get weirded out when americans use cunt as an epithet against women. For me its always been either one to use against men, or a more general aussie humour general people thing "hey you cunce" and so on.

I wince whenever I see/hear that word, but I get that in England it means the same thing as jerk or whatever.

Fact I didn't know until I googled the Chaucerian word quoted above: 'quaint' and 'cunt' have the same etymology

It varies widely, unsurprisingly Scottish and Irish (and I assume Northern Irish?) are the same as Australia, elsewhere it's more shocking - in both cases applying it to a woman is a bold stance.

I'd say there's a class element too.

I'd say that jerk equivalence was pretty accurate, one meaning is despicable person though somewhat more pointedly.

I think we'll have to make concessions to them in order to stop their nuclear program, like we did in the 90s. "Pressure" from us will just make them more committed to getting long range nukes and "pressure" from China isn't happeninf. I don't think Trump will want to negotiate with Kim unless it's framed as the Super Bowl of deals or something.

All the projections say that even limited airstrikes against NK would lead to a catastrophe of an unimaginable scale. I don't envision that happening but who knows.
