He is not well... It's fairly clear. And the stresses of the job won't do him good for the next three and a half years.

Frederik B, Wednesday, 5 July 2017 15:35 (six years ago) link

no offense but videos like that and the speculation they invite really fucking annoy me

first of all, even assuming the worst it's not that bad. a man exits a plane and walks in the wrong direction for 5 seconds and then changes course and walks in a different direction. could this be a clue?!!??!?!?!?!
more importantly, we don't know what's going on off-camera. maybe one of his team of dipshits beckoned to him on one side of the plane, before another dipshit redirected him in another direction? it could be all sorts of things. it's just not a big deal. god, if there were a camera on me all the time with that much scrutiny i'd probably the the subject of a dozen videos per day. zach walked to the kitchen, opened the fridge door, grabbed some hot sauce and returned to the couch, but then he walked BACK to the kitchen to grab a glass of water. why didn't he do both at the same time? is he mentally ill?!? is he fit to be the kind of person who walks around a household?!!??!!

it's just so so so so not important and completely speculative

Ugh, I already regret posting that, it's nothing against you j in chi, I'm just grumpy. Lord Baal knows I've posted my fair share of dumb shit over the years much worse than that.

But KM that's exactly the kind of melodrama based on nothing that Trump's reality show loving fans eat up. They're more likely to see that as evidence of him being unfit to lead than a exhaustively researched article about his shady behavior with his businesses or Russia etc.

Basically my point being that the people who edit reality shows have ruined the country.

Evan, Wednesday, 5 July 2017 16:13 (six years ago) link

trump's reality show loving fans are unlikely to ever see that video and if they do happen across it they'll dismiss it as FAKE NEWS and go back to picking their scabs or whatever

xpost No offense taken. Obviously someone else captured and posted that on youtube, not me. That said, this is not the first time he's done that.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 5 July 2017 16:25 (six years ago) link

I'm not saying it would actually change anything in reality, just talking about what people pay attention to/absorb/are programmed to care about.

xps

Evan, Wednesday, 5 July 2017 16:25 (six years ago) link

That said, there does seem to be ample anecdotal evidence that stairs throw him off.

44 states rejecting voter data request, only 6 are still "undecided" about what to do

Six states have not yet said what they'll do:

Arkansas
Florida
Hawaii
Illinois
Nebraska
New Jersey https://t.co/5UqSkBJAtV

Trumpers clinging really heavily to this CNN blackmail story, which is just so incredibly desperate

frogbs, Thursday, 6 July 2017 03:06 (six years ago) link

CNN are fair game, they're such assholes they've managed to look worse than a fucking meme making MAGA chud.

The Adventures Of Whiteman (Bananaman Begins), Thursday, 6 July 2017 09:12 (six years ago) link

How have CNN managed to look worse?

Shanty Brunch (stevie), Thursday, 6 July 2017 10:30 (six years ago) link

CNN is not publishing "HanA**holeSolo's" name because he is a private citizen who has issued an extensive statement of apology, showed his remorse by saying he has taken down all his offending posts, and because he said he is not going to repeat this ugly behavior on social media again. In addition, he said his statement could serve as an example to others not to do the same.

CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change.

this is the quote in question.

in a post violentacrez world, redditors shouldn't take their anonymity for granted. but you know, that paragraph is hilariously thuggish.

I mean, fuck the chud in question obviously. But CNN clearly being thugs here.

Shanty Brunch (stevie), Thursday, 6 July 2017 10:59 (six years ago) link

As others have noted, it's quite remarkable how much he still blames shit on Hillary or Obama. What a venal, defensive piece of shit.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 6 July 2017 12:35 (six years ago) link

just to get this straight, is he saying that the election *that he won* was rigged by foreign powers?

koogs, Thursday, 6 July 2017 12:37 (six years ago) link

Who can say, right?

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 6 July 2017 12:40 (six years ago) link

Well, he would've won 250% of the vote if not for those meddling foreign powers.

Felix Sater agrees to co-operate in money-laundering probe https://t.co/Z7Pxfj3hWY

— Blake Hounshell (@blakehounshell) July 6, 2017

Given Sater's role on the money front all this time, well before the presidential campaign, watching what happens next on this front will be key.

I actually really liked this. And is there any chance his age could be a sorta positive thing, if he chose the right running mate? Like Nina Turner, not known enough to win the nomination on her own, but as a running mate, wouldn't she do a lot of good in shoring up the base?

Frederik B, Thursday, 6 July 2017 12:56 (six years ago) link

It has raised questions about what steps Mr Trump has taken to check whether tainted funds are coursing through his properties.

I could hazard a guess: none.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 6 July 2017 12:58 (six years ago) link

With Sanders’s strong support of Heath Mello’s ultimately failed bid to become mayor of Omaha, his growing prominence has even become a reed of hope for America’s long-suffering anti-abortion Democrats, who argue with some plausibility that ideological flexibility on this topic is integral to securing congressional majorities.

Hahahahah get fucked.

it sounds like anyone could've found this guy's real name in 5 minutes given the details in his Reddit account. I'm not exactly stanning for CNN here but if threatening to expose a dude for being a Nazi in public sounds as "thuggish behavior" then I don't even know anymore.

frogbs, Thursday, 6 July 2017 13:14 (six years ago) link

Ya maybe ur right, I'm not hard to convince in cases like this. At any rate, perhaps (fat chance) it will be teachable moment for a Trumper to find himself grovelling to a powerful corporation out of fear lol

The Adventures Of Whiteman (Bananaman Begins), Thursday, 6 July 2017 13:50 (six years ago) link

I like how they demanded a formal apology as a condition of not doxing him even though it's obvious he doesn't mean it. Like a show trial.

Treeship, Thursday, 6 July 2017 13:53 (six years ago) link

In any case the media's codependent relationship with Trump was more responsible for his victory than any of these anime nazis. CNN made a billion dollars in profit last year, a 19% increase from 2015.

Treeship, Thursday, 6 July 2017 13:57 (six years ago) link

How on earth is it obvious he doesn't mean it, Treeship? Are you a mindreader?

Frederik B, Thursday, 6 July 2017 14:23 (six years ago) link

Fred are you literally suggesting Bernie run a morbid Lessig campaign because he'll be likely to become unfit for office or die after inauguration? WTF?

Also this is a dude who could not win in the primaries against "the most unpopular candidate ever" so I do not at all understand suggesting him as viable for 2020 on any grounds really other than strictly emotional ones

El Tomboto, Thursday, 6 July 2017 14:44 (six years ago) link

I'm not sure if they demanded an apology; didn't the guy himself say that CNN wasn't strongarming him? more likely the dude just became desperate when he realized that a lifetime of posting Nazi shit on the internet might actually have a real-world consequence. strange, I know...

frogbs, Thursday, 6 July 2017 14:46 (six years ago) link

I don't for a second believe Trump is smart enough to be doing this on purpose, but he really is doing a pretty good job of compelling the MSM to fight with him on his terms. I mean, I understand he's in Eastern Europe and about to meet with Putin, but the fact that the big story right now is his answer to a question about Russian interference in the election...I mean, at this point what percentage of Americans really give a fuck about this issue? I think the vast majority of people consider this whole thing a sideshow and are tuning it out accordingly, which only benefits a president who is desperate to undermine the media. And they just can't help taking the bait time and time again.
