best books that are music lists?

There's a minimum of actual writing in this--voters attached blurbs to their lists--but this had a big influence on me coming out when it did, the late '70s, when such a concept was still new.

seriously tho everyone should read that Ego Trip book it is full of great stuff like this

yeah I've read that book over several times. The albums and singles lists in the back were very useful too.

Well, not in a linear sense

That reasonable guide to horrible noise or whatever piece is a list

Chuck Eddys the Accidental History of Rock n Roll is pretty much a list book too

This one is a list of artists, but nested in that is a guide to their works, so in that way is a "music" list. Certainly in that music is embedded in the word musician...Free Jazz and Free Improvisation: An Encyclopedia: [2 volumes]: Todd S. Jenkins. Available in a lot of university reference libraries. One copy left in paper on Amazon. Other than that, exorbitant pricing, because Publisher, I guarantee you Todd Jenkins does not see one whit.
