Yeah, it's a little sad that these kids don't realize they're participating in the destruction of whatever inheritance/legacy they might've had if their dipshit dad had just kept his head down and focused on being an amazing businessman and dealmaker.

lol no it isn't, not even a little bit

every ounce of suffering heaped upon these people by history will be well-deserved; our end goal should be to make sure the historical view of the Trump family is that they are unprincipled grifters who rode a wave of racist and sexist resentment into power in a failed bid to inflate the family fortunes

unfortunately, the trumps don't read history, and they'll probably end up with enough money that they can surround themselves with people who also don't know or care about history

Karl Malone, Monday, 10 July 2017 19:04 (six years ago) link

as much as I want to believe these guys will at some point suffer the consequences of their actions even a little bit, the truth is that every single Trump will be just fine in the end and will go to their grave believing 100% that the deplorables who had their back really were the "silent majority" that represented the real America all along

I'm too young to remember, but what did Nixon do in the decades before his death?

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 10 July 2017 19:09 (six years ago) link

Just so we're clear, my sympathy for the Trumps (and the GOP-at-large) is nonexistent and I wish for all of the bad things that the universe cares to heap upon them. The sadness is that of watching a sick animal eat its own leg off and hoping that nature takes its course as quickly as possible.

Sadly, I think there's probably a non-negligible chance that at least one of the junior cretins runs for office in the future. Our species doesn't seem to actually learn anything from its mistakes.

Duane Quarterdump (Old Lunch), Monday, 10 July 2017 19:10 (six years ago) link

i feel like trump will eventually just revert to the the GWB "history will be my judge" model, and then on his death bed he'll be like "uh yeah, where is my historian? i have the best historians. how did history judge me?", followed by some douchebag telling him that the history polls show that he was the greatest president of all time, well, maybe tied with lincoln, then he'll die

Karl Malone, Monday, 10 July 2017 19:11 (six years ago) link

The other day I was trying to think of what douchebag Don Jr. reminded me of, and then after a few seconds realized I was thinking of ... Don Jr. . Like, "Who does that douchebag Don Jr. remind me of? Oh yeah, Don Jr."

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 10 July 2017 19:12 (six years ago) link

I imagine unlike sanguine, Zen GWB, Trump will end his life ranting and raving.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 10 July 2017 19:13 (six years ago) link

i share the same cynical attitude toward the fossil fuel kingpins and climate change deniers. sometimes enviros have sad wet dreams about how the people who perpetrated this catastrophe will see how wrong they were and feel so bad and beg for forgiveness. but most likely they'll just take their money and move to a heavily fortified compound in a beautiful remote area of formerly uninhabitable land made fertile by climate change, while the rest of us tear each other's eyeballs out and eat each other or whatever we end up doing

http://www.spiegel.de/politik/ausland/donald-trump-eskaliert-seinen-krieg-gegen-die-medien-a-1155174.html

Trumps fans love his attacks against the media

That with the odds is not true. Like Fox News and MSNBC, which are as successful as not for long, CNN is also on the up. The three rivals are 33 per cent higher than the previous year - thanks to Trump: the more the journalists sabotage, the more the stations earn.

The same is true for most other US media who enjoy a renaissance of investigative research. When the "Washington Post" now revealed a "Time" -cover with the portrait Trumps, which hung in his golf clubs , as a fake , Trump promptly repulsed and threatened Amazon, the parent company of the paper, a fictional "Internet tax".

Trumps, in turn, loves mediaeval supporters, who have already journalized the journalists in their election campaigns, insulted and challenged. When the Republican Congress candidate Greg Gianforte recently beat a reporter of the "Guardian" bloody, they thanked him with an election victory .
