I'm sure the game plan is:

A) This is not actually illegal.

B) Some Democrat probably did something similar at some point. Probably Susan Rice.

can't be stressed enough that Don Jr is only part of the puzzle. Kushner and Manafort were there too, and they were cc'd on the email, so there's quite a likelihood that they have emails of their own. Also, this took place in June! Months before the election. They had plenty of time to do stuff even more nefarious.
