Good line from The Globe and Mail here: "It’s as if the administration is trying to convince Americans that, when it comes to its relationship to Russia, it has something to hide. And if at first you don’t succeed in persuading people that you’re hiding something, well, try and try again."

I was glad to see a few talking heads last night willing to at least tip-toe up to the line that Two-Scoops not knowing about the meeting with the Russian lawyer and Goldstone beggars belief, but things like this put it in stark relief (assuming this is accurate, of course):

I just ran Lexis news article searches.

Trump NEVER mentioned HRC's 33,000 emails before Jun 9, 2016. After, he mentioned almost daily.

Why I feel much better!

The W.H. is functioning perfectly, focused on HealthCare, Tax Cuts/Reform & many other things. I have very little time for watching T.V.

tbf, if you watch 8 hours a day, that's only 1/3 of the day.

I think I pointed this out not long ago, but we're getting to the point where it's no longer enough for him to just lie. It has to be the biggest and the best lie, the lie that lies at the polar opposite of the truth. Why the hell not.

just lol @ this idea that Daddy Trump didn't know about this meeting, he literally promised a major speech on Clinton corruption four hours after the meeting was scheduled

frogbs, Wednesday, 12 July 2017 13:57 (six years ago) link

Because he's such a reactive brainstem, the entire investigation could easily hinge on figuring out what exactly he was reacting to at any given moment. Like, he doesn't just sit in an empty room and come to a decision all on his own.

"White House officials tells us President Trump has been watching plenty of TV news this week, when he's had nothing on his public schedule,” tweeted Washington Post reporter Philip Rucker.

Has there been any attempt at an explanation as to why Emin apparently swindled Rob Goldstone and sent an unconnected lawyer to talk sanctions instead of someone with dirt? Because that part doesn't really make sense (and of course, there's no reason to believe it's true)

The going theory is that the lawyer was working for Denis Katsyv - who was fighting a money-laundering charge linked to the Magnitsky evidence. Katsyv's father used to be governor of the Moscow Region (the bit around Moscow that is not Moscow itself) and is friends with Aras Agalarov - who made most of his billions building offices, malls, etc, in Moscow Region. Aras is Emin's dad.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Wednesday, 12 July 2017 16:19 (six years ago) link

According to emails released Tuesday by Trump Jr., on June 3, 2016—shortly after Trump had secured the Republican presidential nomination—Aras was in a meeting with Yury Chaika, the prosecutor general of Russia, who had been in the post since 2006.

Well, no - according to the emails, Trump Jr. received an email claiming this meeting happened - this doesn't need to be true (and as Fred points out it doesn't match with what happened next) for this to be bad news for Jr.
