“Yesterday was very surreal for @ahowardbrowne & I. 30 years ago we came from South Africa to America as missionaries. Yesterday I was asked by Pastor Paula White-Cain to pray over our 45th President—what a humbling moment standing in the Oval Office—Laying hands and praying for our President—Supernatural Wisdom, Guidance and Protection—who could ever even imagine—wow—we are going to see another great spiritual awakening.”

"I mean I have nothing to do with Russia. I don't have any jobs in Russia. I'm all over the world but we're not involved in Russia."

"I mean I haven't heard that. But I have nothing to do with Russia, nothing to do, I never met Putin, I have nothing to do with Russia whatsoever."

The boldness of the lies, how easy they are to disprove...just can't believe this guy made it past the earliest stages of primaries.

That photo of people touching Trump creeps me out 'cause I don't know why, but I just have a feeling that Trump would have a higher body temperature than a normal person, maybe 'cause of his shitty diet and general poor health, or whatever. Anyway, I feel like if you put your hand on him he would be hot. There was a kid in my junior high school who was like that; I remember one day we were all standing around outside in the winter, waiting for the bell to ring, and he was steaming.

it creeps me out because they're all full of shit in a different way that trump is full of shit, and they both they're taking advantage of the other

There are plenty of reasons to not touch Trump. He doesn't seem like much of a bather, for a start.

trump is totally the kind of guy who pays no attention to his personal hygiene but frantically reaches for the hand sanitizer every time he comes into contact with another human

I thought I'd given up on hoping there would be anything that might actually take the Trumps down but Rob Goldstone looks like that guy in the movies who doesn't think twice about spilling everything to the cops in exchange for immunity.

I wish I could believe the Russia probe will bring down Trump but my gut tells me it won't. There'll be a few slapped wrists and if there's any jail threat for Trump's inner circle it'll be pardons all round.

Don Jr is a complete moron, even more so than his Dad, and this fact ironically helps him. If he really was a Machiavellian master manipulator it would look so much worse for him than just being the moron he is. He clearly has no understanding of why his Russian meeting might have been wrong, and in this case ignorance probably is a defence in the court of popular opinion

This Magnitsky stuff and laundering case dismissal is really just staggering. Increasingly it feels like the place where the most variables converge. This from before revelation that Natalia Whatsitskova argued for the defense:

Prevezon pays US government ~6 million and:

"This settlement is nothing short of a victory for Prevezon," Faith Gay, a lawyer for the company, said in a phone interview. "It’s almost an apology by the government."

Sometimes I wish I could be a lawyer and get paid enormous sums to say shit like this, too. Then I come to my senses.

A is for (Aimless), Thursday, 13 July 2017 03:29 (six years ago) link

The Magnitsky / Prevezon stuff is central to this story, though Veselnitskaya's involvement in lobbying / working for them has been known for some time:

https://www.rferl.org/a/rinat-akmetshin-russia-gun-for-hire-washington-lobbying-magnitsky-browder/27863265.html

The settlement looks kind of suspicious in the light of the discussions but it was commended by Bill Browder, the driving force behind the Magnitsky act, at the time.

Trump said he spent the first 20 or 25 minutes of his more than two-hour meeting with Putin last Friday in Germany on the election meddling subject.

"I said, did you do it? And he said no, I did not. Absolutely not. I then asked him a second time in a totally different way. He said absolutely not," Trump said.

So asking him the question the second time took - what - 19 or 24 minutes?

When asked if the president was still hissing at the TV this week over the televised Trump Jr. coverage, one White House official confirmed that the president was still taking out his Russia-related frustrations on an inanimate object while bitterly watching the news.

“Yes,” the aide replied. “Very much…Growling.”

incredible that after all this Don Jr. still has no clue what he did wrong and still laments the fact that he didn't get that sweet Hillary dirt he was promised

frogbs, Thursday, 13 July 2017 14:39 (six years ago) link

the thing about that is he never had get the dirt . All he had to do was promise some reimbursement that gave the green light for wiki leaks or whatever to disseminate the info. The russians were smart enough not to trust this bumbling idiot with anything.

I'm finding it difficult to find previous comment on Chris Wray on the search engine here.
Is he thought of as ok? Or is that moot in a Trump nominee.
