i just did a quick search on the main blogspot page and found a few
http://orgyinrhythm.blogspot.com/
http://leblogdepekis.blogspot.com/ (this one's got a secret way to download the files, add http://rapidshare.com/files/ to the front and .zip to the end)
http://jazzheads.blogspot.com/ (links in comments)

and please, please download this. Henri Texier is one of my faves! solo upright bass with beautiful, frenchy wordless vocals on top. super cosmic. http://oopswhoops.blogspot.com/2006/05/henri-texier-varech-disques-jms-1977.html

maybe it's been mentioned above, but my favorite is

...if you like older brazilian stuff...

does anyone else feel like me that they get angry when they find new good full album blogs? i've got too much to listen to and it's so easy to find new stuff now.

MUCHO MACHO (jaxon), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 15:57 (seventeen years ago) link

yeah, but what are you gonna do?

good tip on that texier, pretty great stuff. is the earlier solo LP worth chasing down?

GOD PUNCH TO HAWKWIND (yournullfame), Wednesday, 19 July 2006 09:37 (seventeen years ago) link

the way i found out about him was my buddy went backpacking/digging all through europe (he met so many crusty euro record collectors and picked up so much amazing eastern euro psych and jazz) and brought home Amir (the one with his bass standing upright by itself) and i was fucking sold. fell in love. if you like Varech, you'll like Amir. if it's not online anymore, lemme know and i can upload it.

i got amir from spacedebris - thanks again jaxon, these are really cool. a twofer reissue would be very nice.

the texier is great.

terrifically handy searchable meta-mp3blog: http://tofuhaus.antville.org/

dan (dan), Friday, 21 July 2006 19:31 (seventeen years ago) link

this one ... http://headfonehaus.blogspot.com/ ... would be great

EXCEPT

once i download the .rar files, and type in the pwd, i can't extract the mp3 files! i either get a pwd error or "no files to extract" (!). i have mac osx and am using unrarx. anyone else has this problem.

it's too bad, because this blog has great music.

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Friday, 21 July 2006 22:13 (seventeen years ago) link

weird. is there another mac .rar utility or (and please excuse my total ignorance) is there any way to run the windows rar program?

GOD PUNCH TO HAWKWIND (yournullfame), Friday, 21 July 2006 22:35 (seventeen years ago) link

the other.rar program for mac osx i've tried, machacha, is completely useless in handling files that need passwords to be unarchived (it simply keeps asking you for the pwd over and over again)....

weird huh?

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Friday, 21 July 2006 23:07 (seventeen years ago) link

yep. i've not had problems with .rar files so far but maybe i'll download something from headfonehaus later and see if winrar chokes on it...

It's amazing just how intensely the prog and fusion heads are digging the rapidshare world. But does anybody know of any sites good for country, country rock, roots, etc.?

BTW- I use unRarX for Mac, and it's doing the trick perfectly.

GOD PUNCH TO HAWKWIND (yournullfame), Monday, 4 September 2006 03:27 (seventeen years ago) link

i grabbed the Just Ice album. there's some talk of it on the mantronix thread

jaxon (jaxon), Monday, 4 September 2006 04:46 (seventeen years ago) link

awesome. they've got the 101 strings astro sounds from beyond the year 2000 for download. highly recommended if you love psychsploitation, it actually rates higher with me than the animated egg album (which was the basis for the ASFBTY2K recording).

anyone found any good spiritual/kosmigroov/funky/free/afrocentric jazz blogs? i'm looking for more impulse/strata type stuff than the bluenote/prestige stuff everyone posts.

Yeah, Destination Out is the only site where I've got the comments on RSS feed. Mwanji at be.jazz tipped a lot of us to that one awhile back.

Jaxon, you subbed to the boppinaround forum?
