his dad had a lot of money, too, like mr. trump's, so he's got that going for him

You weren't technically incorrect.

In the future, you won't even be considered for the presidential nomination if you haven't been featured in a leaked sex tape alongside a washed-up celebrity.

I often wonder if Kid Rock would be where he is today if it weren't for that Grand Royal Magazine piece on him when his career seemed dead in the 90s

Honestly, I would be ecstatic if the GOP ran Kid Rock against a vulnerable incumbent. Unlike Donald Trump, the Kid will have to actually win a majority of votes.

Yeah that...huh.

The revelation that the head of Vnesheconombank provided Kushner with actual, literal dirt is delightful.

So will the Kush or Jr. or Manafort be under oath? I am reading conflicting reports.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 24 July 2017 14:01 (six years ago) link

From what I can tell, not under oath but there's still law on the books making it a crime to lie to Congress.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 24 July 2017 14:01 (six years ago) link

Law on the books making it a crime to lie to Congress... enforcement and prosecution of which are overseen by liar-to-Congress Jeff Sessions.

As Haberman's been noting, apparently Kushner's rather close to Rudy. Convenient, this new rumor!

The Kush pushback - Kushback? - is so slick and sneaky. Like, if he had excuses for all thus stuff people have been saying for months that he's done or been involved with, why did he wait to release them as a carefully composed statement the morning of his closed door interrogation? Just begs disbelief. It's a lot easier to believe he's been shady and silent because he has something to hide then to believe he just put off his defense because he's been too busy.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 24 July 2017 15:52 (six years ago) link

Watch CNN for any two-hour stretch during the day, and the phrase you'll hear most often is "I don't think he really understands that."

I get that we shouldn't expect any satisfactory answer, but they need to be pressed on this topic now rather than later. If Republicans agree that Mueller is trustworthy and deserves support, then they need to be cornered regarding how they feel about a potential firing. Not being willing to answer says just as much.

Plus, those kinds of questions are beloved by Beltway reporters; it's as if they're willing to happen. Meanwhile we all lose because Mueller looks like the best man for the job.

it's an amazing sequence of events! trump is in the middle of a sea of smiling white summer interns who don't realize that they're posing for a picture with nixon in the summer of 1974. a reporter asks about one of the dozens of ongoing fuckups that he singlehandedly created, and all of the dipshits just smile and laugh in response
