lol at "I don't think that's going to happen." after Neanderthal's scenario. good xpost.

anyway tho - having the vote could also blow up in mitch's face if a lot more No's than those decide to declare themselves - hey, we wanna be feted with kickbacks and pork too! - massively multiplying an already impossible horse-trading scene. but if the gambit works and somebody folds for fear of being made famous as The One Who Blew The Chance To Repeal Obamacare then this post will look pretty fucking stupid.

(fear of being The One obviously tempered, based on your electorate, by fear of being Killer Of A Million Kids With Cancer, etc.)

Lisa Murkowski still undecided on the motion to proceed.

— Matt Fuller (@MEPFuller) July 24, 2017

Murkowski: "I do not" know what's after MTP.

Appropriate?

"I'm told we're going to be finding that out, which will be very important."

— Matt Fuller (@MEPFuller) July 24, 2017

You don't know what's in the bill, right?

Murkowski: "That's correct, as far as I know at this time."

the GOP leadership no longer fears Trump -- it's afraid of the Kochs, donors, etc who have wanted this repeal for eight years.

I almost feel like, at least Trump broke all the rules to get something for himself. McConnell is just breaking every norm and going further and further out on a limb in order to pay off his masters. At this point, it's almost pathetic.

almost?

all i know is the gap between rich and poor is way too narrow in the united states. freedom can't fit through. it's time to repeal the abominable shackles of healthcare from the downtrodden and harness all the pent up liberty unleashed

“They ought to be aggregators,” he said. “We ought to take a score from Heritage, from AEI, from Brookings, from the Urban Institute and bring them together for a composite score that would represent a wide swath of their abilities. We think that’s a pragmatic way to rely on the private sector and let Congress rely on a score that’s accurate.”

I find Trump's use of "beleaguered" as a pejorative really funny. First, big surprise, it suggests he doesn't understand what the word means. Sessions is beleaguered, it's true, almost entirely because of his nutcase president. It also reminds me of something an editor said to me 30 years ago when I handed in a John Candy story: "We may put this on the cover...'The beleaguered dad in Summer Rental'--that's the best you can do?"

From the linked story:

President Trump and his advisers are privately discussing the possibility of replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and some confidants are floating prospects who could take his place were he to resign or be fired, according to people familiar with the talks.

Members of Trump’s circle, including White House officials, have increasingly raised the question among themselves in recent days as the president has continued to vent his frustration with the attorney general, the people said.
