Trump, however, was clearly upset that Tillerson told him he had no choice but to certify Iran was in compliance, according to the source, and asked White House staffers to take over. Withholding certification “wasn’t a real option available to me,” Trump reportedly told the staffers. “Make sure that’s not the case 90 days from now.”

Trump's presidency needs to end, either through impeachment or the 25th. I don't know if it's in the long term interests of Democrats to oust him but his bizarre judgment is frightening. Publicly attacking his own AG makes no sense strategically, it's just a way for Trump to blow off steam with no thought to consequences.

I would say that doing this on the eve of the health care vote lends credibility to the 'diversion tactic' thesis, but if he just wanted to do something to take focus from health care, why choose this? Who on earth is going to want to take over from Sessions now? And what does he think will happen at the Chris Wray confirmation hearing?

Strange news from another star!

Former House speaker John A. Boehner, who has mostly avoided public commentary since leaving Congress two years ago, told a business gathering last week that Republicans are “not going to repeal and replace Obamacare” because “the American people have gotten accustomed to it.”

“Here we are, seven months into this year, and yet they’ve not passed this bill. Now, they’re never — they’re not going to repeal and replace Obamacare,” Boehner told a private crowd in Las Vegas, according to video footage obtained by The Washington Post. “It’s been around too long. And the American people have gotten accustomed to it. Governors have gotten accustomed to this Medicaid expansion, and so trying to pull it back is really not going to work.”

Boehner said the Republicans’ best hope in the coming months is to peel away aspects of the law, such as some tax provisions and regulations, and to end health insurance mandates.

“When it’s all said and done, you’re not going to have an employer mandate anymore, you’re not going to have the individual mandate,” Boehner said. “The Medicaid expansion will be there. The governors will have more control over their Medicaid populations and how to get them care, and a lot of Obamacare taxes will probably go.”

So they won't be able to repeal and replace it, they'll just mutilate it until it no longer functions. Got it.

That's the worst case scenario because they will be able to convincingly blame the poor outcomes on "Obamacare" rather than their "reforms."

If they pass the Soylent Green Act then at least there is a chance that ferocious public outcry will pave the way to single payer.

So you’ve got all these people who signed up to work for a demanding President in awful conditions while being piled on from the outside and they all see the most loyal Cabinet secretary getting thrown under the bus by the President.

They now realize there will be no two way loyalty. The President demands loyalty, but shows no loyalty. These guys were hoping he could at least be helpful when they need a new job at the end of the administration. Now they wonder if the President will even remember who they are. They expect that one mistake will get them savaged on Twitter by the President....

Behind the scenes, both Cabinet secretaries and their staffs have terrible stories of treatment by B-list White House staff. They do not feel any more valued than low level staff. On top of that, the White House is running purity tests on potential staff picks, which is slowing down the job, making things more difficult, and is increasingly ironic given the President’s lack of loyalty to others.
