Ooh do you reckon there will be tickets on the door for Ellen Allien?

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Thursday, 29 June 2006 15:48 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, I'd have thought so. I don't have an advance one anyway. Fancy it then?

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 29 June 2006 16:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Absolutely, as long as we're not too knackered by midnight.

Ally C dropped by McSorley's earlier this evening to inform me y'all were hiding out in the Crystal Palace. Well, fair enough, the Swedish bands weren't amazing, but you could have heard my amazing story about how I received a phonecall from the legendary Kim Fowley this morning...

- awaits amazed posts expectently... ;)

Stew (stew s), Thursday, 29 June 2006 23:25 (seventeen years ago) link

You got a call from Kim Fowley?!

jed_ (jed), Friday, 30 June 2006 12:48 (seventeen years ago) link

Hmm. Me and Neil are now thinking about going to the West End somewhere tomorrow to watch the football and laze about and drink and stuff. Enrique, I'll email you my mobile number. Will probably be out most of tomorrow so can't check email, but get in touch via mobile. But surely someone somewhere somehow will be in touch with some people who, between us, have all the other people's phone numbers. Yes?

GF, how teh fuck were you drunk? You didn't get to the pub until FIVE HOURS after me. I got up for work still drunk this morning. Yay me.

Top night, btw, cheers dudes. Dahlin, I did try to make people go over to SOS, even for a wee bit. Madchen felt inappropriately dressed. Sorry :-(

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 30 June 2006 18:36 (seventeen years ago) link

cozen and i have henry's and i take it cozen has everyone's? see you the morra! :)

jed_ (jed), Friday, 30 June 2006 18:43 (seventeen years ago) link

Cozen probably doesn't have my number any more, since I've changed it fairly recently. However, Ally C & Madchen (amongst others) have it, so, yeah, stuff will happen. Hey! We're not so shit at this fun-organising!

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 30 June 2006 18:53 (seventeen years ago) link

Anyone Pop Leaguing it tonight? I am!

Kim Fowley - ok, a friend who works for the SCottish Music Centre had been in contact with him and sent him a Beard. This was a couple of months ago. Then out of the blue I answer my phone and it's like "Hi this is Kim Fowley!"
He sounded me out about Glasgow music and stuff. We had a nice chat. He referred to himself in the third person a number of times as only a true star can and reeled off his record sales like that. What a guy!
He's coming over later in the year and was like, "Maybe we can go to Mono and watch some rock n roll bands!" Yeah!

Stew (stew s), Friday, 30 June 2006 18:55 (seventeen years ago) link

I thought about Pop League, but last night sort of killed me. Then I went out for a couple of pints to watch the football after work today and have just realised that I'm completely and utterly knackered. So quiet night in to get ready for tomorrow.

(Stew, we did wave at you out of Crystal Palace window. Also, Kim Fowley-FAP!)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 30 June 2006 19:12 (seventeen years ago) link

Ah,sorry I never bother to look into pubs! Was I eating a minging bag of chips?

Stew (stew s), Friday, 30 June 2006 19:33 (seventeen years ago) link

You were striding purposefully in, maybe about 9/9.30-ish? We waved at lots of people, then decided this was a shit policy because no-one looks into random other pubs and started delegating me into running across the road to talk to people.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 30 June 2006 19:40 (seventeen years ago) link

Madchen felt inappropriately dressed.

I agreed with he, in a completely non-sexist manner, I seem to recall.

Cheers glasgow, you were aces, as ever.

I won't mention blue prawns (except to remind journos that they were offended by it, and they should remember what they threatened to do).

Cozen and I are going to the eats tapes thing. Anyone else fancy it? I get out of work at 10 so a drink then would be good.

I read that as 'eats tapas', and was momentarily excited. unfortunately I don't think I'm that interested in tapes.

Cathy (Cathy), Friday, 5 January 2007 19:13 (seventeen years ago) link

what's the SECC like? i'm toying w/ the idea of going to see Dylan there on the 11th April (shld prob. see him before one of us kicks bucket, etc)

also tempted by Dick Gaughan performing Handful of Earth at the City Halls on the 22nd Jan

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Sunday, 7 January 2007 20:58 (seventeen years ago) link

the secc is like a big shed with terrible terrible sound.

i think i'll go see Birchville Cat Motel although i really preferred his set as Black Boned Angel at Instal 2005.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 7 January 2007 21:56 (seventeen years ago) link

hmmm sounds like wembley arena, one of my v. least favourite venues

yeah i agree w/ you abt Black Boned Angel vs. BCM, but I still enjoyed BCM, and it's always gd to see Richard Youngs

i hope we can finally meet up at this one, jed (since I've moved to Glasgow, quite a lot of ppl have said "you look like John Peel" to me, fwiw)

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Sunday, 7 January 2007 23:00 (seventeen years ago) link

I saw the OO there once, and it was good, but my flatmate saw the Pixies and the stage fell off, so that wasn't as good. Hard to tell. Dylan would probably be good, if I liked him, which I don't.

I don't think Jed looks like John Peel.

KeefW (kmw), Sunday, 7 January 2007 23:02 (seventeen years ago) link

Sorry, the you in that sentence refers to me ('ward fowler', or Andrew L) not Jed

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Sunday, 7 January 2007 23:10 (seventeen years ago) link

Ah... Sorry, carry on.
