I can't get enough of this record right now, and I think it fits-ish here-ish:

You might be thinking of this thread

Rolling "Experimental Is A Shitty Descriptor But Whatev" 2017

That's the minimal thread. This is the maximal thread.

o wow! ^______^ this is gr8!

also also yeah this has been mentioned elsewhere (orange milk thread) but the new death's dynamic shroud album is very awesome and a significant milestone in rolling attention deficit 2017

xxxp I can't decide if Macula Dog is quite good or supremely irritating or both. I mean it's some impressively weird pop-something-wave but the cheapo sounds set my teeth on edge (this is probably intentional lol). But by god I despise that entire record label's ugly sense of aesthetics, again it's probably intentional, but ugh.

this quick brown fox album is great :)
reminds me of the chart show in the early 90s

I enjoyed it the one time I listened. I'll pull it out again. Hamilton ON has had a cool little mini-scene of avant electronic music for a while.

No purposes. Sounds. (Sund4r), Wednesday, 23 August 2017 13:57 (six years ago) link

one month passes...

This should have some crossover appeal with people who like the Stabscotch album:

https://gasplapsychviolence.bandcamp.com/album/ghost-in-scow-out-1-week-free-download

Weirdo psychedelic hardcore band that combined noise rock, powerviolence and queasy tape loops and haven't released anything since the late 90s, suddenly re-emerging now. It's a reunion very few people were clamouring for but 1998's Drome Triler of Puzzle Zoo People is a hidden gem, serious.

posted in orange milk thread, but it's probably a good fit here too. grindcore pop made out of breaks and edm synths
https://orangemilkrecords.bandcamp.com/album/because-im-young-arrogant-and-hate-everything-you-stand-for

also new goreshit, in "goretrance" mode, which is basically ADD breakcore versions of sugary 90s trance/house.
https://goreshit.bandcamp.com/album/goretrance-x

...and have to mention new SAYOHIMEBOU again just because it's so good, and a fine embodiment of thread thesis

For those compiling your year-end lists, this playlist includes all the available tracks on this thread as well as all the tracks from Rolling "Experimental Is A Shitty Descriptor But Whatev" 2017 (division be damned), organized sorta-not-really chronologically in order of mention:

^in the same area code as the Stabscotch, though obv this cannot match that sprawl (few records can). You could prob say they're like a more psychedelic Brainiac...?
Loving it, regardless

new goreshit "memestreet" https://goreshit.bandcamp.com/ basically noise rock/mathcore realized as edm. 2017 is the year breakcore broke as punk

Dominique, Friday, 8 December 2017 14:50 (six years ago) link

I gave Stabscotch another open-minded shot today while reviewing stuff for my EOY and I think the singer sounds like Justin Roiland.

two weeks pass...

what are we gonna do this year then

imago, Monday, 1 January 2018 19:44 (six years ago) link

can the dry ambient mnmlst nonsense of 'rolling experimental' happily coexist with the exciting irritating madness of attention deficit once more

imago, Monday, 1 January 2018 19:46 (six years ago) link

of course, you are basically the only person who thinks otherwise but we're all happy to play along if it's what you want to do.
