Lots of supporters won't bother to question their presumptions of competence/leadership until they're personally effected. Their premiums continue rising, they lose their ACA subsidized insurance, their retirement account takes a plunge, they lose their job, their kid dies in an unnecessary war. There's a disheartening number who never see news from non-partisan sources.

Nixon's approval rating, in an era when news was less-partisan, was 24% on the day he left office. Unless Trump was caught with underaged prostitutes, I don't think we're going to see sub 28-30.

it's funny how the "accomplishments" become more nonsensical/less verifiable the farther down you go. By the time you get to 8 you're already in "uh, yeah right"/wishful thinking territory

mooch was only there for ten days yet it felt like two years, therefore imo he was but a brief flickering hallucination produced by the temporal distortion we're currently locked inside of

What on earth could've possibly led to a) Trump firing (or allowing to be fired) this guy who's basically his id given independent form or b) a guy with such a coca plantation-sized ego stepping down voluntarily?

otm. it already seems like a dream. and in 10 years or whatever it'll be like "remember when that stereotype of a complete fucking asshole suddenly appeared on the scene, said that bannon wanted to suck his own dick, fired reince priebus and then got fired within a week?"

Karl Malone, Monday, 31 July 2017 18:43 (six years ago) link

xxxpost Yes, I'm sure choosing to work for Trump was his only fault, seems cool otherwise.

Whenever Brexit gets too embarrassing for me to bear the White House always saves the day. Amazing.

stet, Monday, 31 July 2017 18:43 (six years ago) link

Bannon's just keepin' his head down, biding his time. Clocking in, shuffling papers around, clocking out. Watching the clock. Not trying to suck his own cock.

Some years ago I worked for a company with a constant churn of upper-level veeps. Every time I didn't like a boss, I just told myself to wait a month and the pendulum would swing again.

Kelly is casting himself as the grownup, in the role of finally reducing the drama.

Maybe no one has told him yet that the biggest, whiniest toddler in the building is actually his boss?
